basically the short story is that this little kid was saved in the floods when his older brother gave his life for him by telling rescuers to save his littler brother instead. The kid lost his mother and one hell of a brother, only to get a broken collarbone from some dipshit little kids.

Yes? I'd have a new story for you everyday. It's just most of these things are never 'captured' by the media.

Anyway... that's a horrible story. Obviously them kids wanted to receive some little fame, even if it was terribly negative. When they receive a death in their family and/or something terrible happens, they'll feel so much guilt...

Actually, per definition you would be better! Because you had a valid reason to do as such. The extent of your action might not have been deemed appropriate in the sense of laws and such, but for all what it's worth, you would be better than them.

And yes, those kids deserve some serious penalty. I am not for beating as an educational instrument, that is just plain wrong, ... nevertheless I'd like to break their collarbones too.
I'd say when the next flood hits, save them last. It's not like they'd lose valuable members of their society and when they do get rescued in the end, they'd hopefully learned a lesson.

Not if you used enough violence so they can never respond themselves again. Though this is certainly a bit extreme for dealing with bullies, no matter how despicable they are. But sometimes, it really sounds like a nice idea, don't you people think?

Doing nothing leads to more violence. Defending yourself is something many 1st world country schools vigorously try to paint off as something bad. "Just go tell on them and everything will be ok." Yea well you see the results.

Defending yourself is not a matter of only using violence, but also showing that you will stand your ground. Both mental and physical. An insecure violent child will solve nothing.
