View Full Version : Scaling geometry

I was under the impression that you needed a WWSkin if you intended to use scaling in your animation. Apparently I was wrong, I have a sphere that is part of a skinned building and while the bone is correctly animated in Max, in W3X view, the animation plays with no scaling.
Is scaling possible to capture for an animation?

AFAIK a scale animation is not possible in W3D/W3X and the W3X Viewer also lists only XYZ-translation, quaternion rotation and visibility as possible animation channels.
If the scale covers only a small range, you could try blending several copies of the mesh with different sizes sequentially with visibility.
Depending on what you wish to do (emissive, cam oriented ball or Ball lightning), you might be able to use a particle instead. The Raider Buggy EMP FX does this.
