There's tons of tune-up softwares that are really malware in disguise, so I do wonder, is there such a thing in the first place?

Yes and no, according to cnet, TuneUp Utilities 2011 is a great program with a 15 day trial, however I haven't used so I don't know if it works or not. Although I do remember using one, I don't remember the name. (It was decent)

Nearest thing I use now is Ccleaner, although that's not really a tune up software.

Iobit Advanced System Care is the best out atm, it does everything you will need, including defrag, spyware detection, malware stuff and others also its basically free unles you want to pay to get extra advantages with it.

You can also downlad gamebooster and a special AV software developed by Iobit too.

in my experience gameboosters tend to not be worth getting due to them being power hogs that negate their purpose

yea iobits game booster uses 200b (iirc, only checked it the other day on my mothers comp.) in the background so its quite a good gamebooster in that respect.

Tune Up software really has gone by the way side from a reliability standpoint. I use CCleaner and Auslogics Diskdefrag which is free to use. I use to use Norton Utilities long ago but I couldn't see the point in paying for it each year like I do Internet Security Suites.

Unless I see Iobit products being reviewed 1 of 3 publications I get monthly I'm not touching their software. I only touch known software brands.

but iobit is free and some of the best software i have ever used, they even backup all registry stuff and there are free options further down the page i linked to have a trail with.

It does everything you have listed there and more.

CCleaner does registry backups before fixing unused entries and invalid entries. Auslogics Disk Defrag satisfies me and I've been using it for 2 years. The other options I can do on my own as it just takes a few secs to do. Why would I need a gamebooster when already my system is setup for gaming and I have very few programs running in the backgrounds when gaming. Probably the computer illiterate might need the gamebooster program but anyone else really doesn't need it.

Last time I had Iobit, it created some issues with Steam so that I couldn't play any Steam games. :/

Maybe not for you but others have had issues with steam using Iobit software. Nobody wants to take chances with unknown software anyway get over yourself.

I was just restating the outcry other people have experienced with Iobit software. Mainly gamers trashing it and no I wasn't preventing anyone from stating their own opinion but I do get testy when people overlook what is being said and claim they are not having problems but other people are. I call that ignorance.

I call it the truth, i and many people i know who use it have no problems, i wasnt being ignorant, i was stating i havent had problems with it. What i call ignorant is the person whining about people being ignorant avoiding using the program because it doesnt appear in the magazines he reads, and FYI no software of this sort appears in Playboy.......

Really can't see how that's ignorance, can he not express his experience with Iobit software? Red didn't say that everyone else should use Iobit just because it's fine on his PC, he just said: "Doesn't affect Steam on my comp..."

What's wrong with that? I call that freedom of speech.
Oh, and Iobit software doesn't affect Steam on my PC either... line me up against a wall and shoot me then.

Neither does it affect mine but then again I don't use it.

AFAIK I heard that program is the world's best top tune-up software. I will give that program a try when I download it.

My apologies for going inside the "Danger Zone" with an earlier post in this thread. I'm far from perfect but I made a mistake with my poor choice of words in the end. I experienced one of those "Danger Zone" moments and quite frankly I screwed up. I'm very sorry guys.

well if you're talking about cleaning and performance u can use ccleaner and the windows defrag (it itself is good enough), now if you're talking about a suite with appearance and stuff, the best is Tune-Up Utilities

Windows Standard defrag system doesn't defrag everything. It only defrags and optimizes the system files. Auslogics Diskdefrag allows you to have full control over the defrag process. Tune Up utilities is an excellent program but those looking for free programs are better off with CCleaner , Auslogics Diskdefrag and deleting files manually that you no longer use such as installers that we all accumulate overtime.

on my old PC, I used to own Tune Up Utilities 2K9. it was a really good set of software that had some really useful tools that windows themselves havent thought of utilizing/ could have done better at doing. Given the standards things like the Registry Cleaner will be left for dead in the wake of actual specialist software, but for the most part, I find it is worth the money you may be asked to spend on it.

the Reason why I still dont use tune up, is becausze I know my way around windows a LOT better than back then, Microsoft have tweaked and refined their usability for a lot of their maintenance tools, and my hardware generally far exceeds my usage, so only small things like registry changes need tools to be run through. I do use Defraggler over the windows Defrag tool, even though windows 7 defrag is pretty damn good for supplied software.
