Maybe have a clan map.

Description:

WoT is going to be implementing a territory control map, quite soon. I think this type of thing would be pretty awesome in an RTS, a world map, with each little city/country having its own little territory. The Clans fight for control of the map, and once a year or something the map gets reset to the clans starting points and the winning clan wins something.

It will basically be a Clan vs Clan mode with upto 5v5 players, each clan has the ability to attack another clans territory, and fight for control of the planet. Each territory for instance brings better build times etc. Somehow build a system where if a clan has a minimum 5 players online they can then officially be attacked by another clan, then its down to the teams skill.

Positive Effect:

It will actually give clans a meaning in the game, plenty of opportunity for people to make clans opf any size, we could even feature a Dynamic map here on the forums. It would also be something very unique in the RTS genre. Also a major selling point.

Negative Effect:

A sizable chunk of work would need to be put into this, but it can be pulled off. Dynamic map may have problems early on but is workable.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. And it could possibly work in the way of KW Global Conquest.

Another good reference would be Total War: SHOGUN 2! They did something similiar and quite good.

Anyway, the more attention clans get the better IMO as people can have a great time online with their friends in a new way :)

Yeah, Sortta like that, but instead of AI you vs Humans, and you conquer the planet bit by bit. So for instance, you decide to conquer the UK as an example, you have to conquer each county (or states in the US's case) seperatly. Areas that small for longer-term reasons, also it would allow alot more different clans to be formed and made.

Now to expand on the bonus, its kinda like, say for each county/state you capture in a country you get a small like 1% or something bonus to either build times, starting economy, collected supplies, fire-power, speed, armour, view range etc.

Hmmmm yeah. Well the bonuses cannot be to big as the clan with the biggest amount of territory will just end up having an easy time winning as their bonuses will help them out tremendously. "Weaker" clans should get something in their favor to help them attack the "biggest" clan or it will not be any fun. Be it an attacking/defensive bonus or something.

Heck, you could have clans align with either GDI or Nod (or whatever factions) and enter a large-scale Conquer the World like in Kane's Wrath with certain bases pre-placed and players being able to build much smaller secondary bases that are tied to a main base. Skirmish battles occur as players can casually come in and throw their lot to a side and we can settle who is better, GDI or Nod, once and for all. Map resets obviously happen once one side is really dominating or X amount of time has passed, with big warnings so people don't wonder "where'd all our progress go?"

This is mainly where the bonuses would come into play, when you are defending your own turf.

it could even implement the map control idea or capture the flag type maps where no bases are allowed, ie; deserts or hard to reach parts of the planet........with a choice on how to complete the battle, either cap and hold the points for X mins or defeat all forces in the area. <------but reading that doesnt seem to fit with this idea anyone else think differently?

shogun 2 total war and endwar used similar concepts for their multiplayer modes, since it was also in Tiberian sun this seems like a no brainier to better integrate people in to the multiplayer experience

Perhaps a tournament style Global Conquest would be a good option. So, the base game mode is regular GC as in KW (some fixes and extensions) but there are multiple game modes in it, among it a tournament World Domination. Instead of just fighting random battles, clans would start with territories assigned to them and the goal would be wiping out all other enemies and taking domination of THE WORLD!!!

Depending on the size of GC, this could either be a ladder-style, i.e. you get points for territory but it resets every couple of weeks, or tournament style mode, i.e. the winner are the last clan standing.

I do believe this should be implemented in the next C&C game. It may take a bit of work, but i'm sure it wouldn't take that much work. As you could probably steal the coding from KW and just tweak it a bit.

I just skimmed a bit around the pages, I just want to say that this sounds like a good idea even though it might feel like a soft version of End of Nations (especially if you're gonna fight against an AI).

Instead of getting some sort of bonus buffs for your units, I think the reward for gaining territories should go on some sort of point system that you can use to purchase DLC's.

*rubs palms with evil grin*

I fully support the idea.

I call it c&c risk or c&c world domination mode or c&c browser game style.


That works very well in browsergames like tribalwars (bigger in germany called 'die staemme') where >30000 players per world (they are at world 72 right now) are fighting for territory.

In addition in cnc that would be without rolling the dices, but instead playing the attacks, which is a huge bonus real time strategy always had over round based one.

And that farming stuff can be connected to the quickmatch system. As more quickmatch you or your clan mates play, the more gold you get and with that gold you can do like whatever. Also such a mode is a great place where their DLC can shine without affecting the true rts core game mode we all love so much.

Also with this idea they could have tournys once a month, giving away DLC and stuff. Just once a month and give away enough stuff to each individual person.

WoT does something similar in each timezone, ie tournys in the Oceanic and EU and US timezones, and give away 9000 gold to each play er if they win gradually lowering to a fourth place. Works remarkably well when there is something to play for.

They can put something like Tiberrium Alliance in the game for clans pvp.... it is tested already on browser with thousands of players...The world map divided into regions/territorys with certain power up territorys like (boosting attack for tanks-army-air) or boosting income ech. :)
