Subject: Introduce a sort of "Rebel" force to maps.

Description:
Like in C&C 3 the Forgotten that sometimes guarded tiberium spikes or tiberium feilds, and even neutral tech structures. And also like in Halo wars (Yes I am taking an Idea from Halo Wars) the "rebels" that guarded early expansions. I think this game mechanic could work well in the next C&C. This mechanic could be turned off of course, the rebels could be buffed of weakened depending on what you want. As could the number of these hostile forces, and again decresed or increased for your preferance. You could also have an option controling where they appear, such as tech structures, choke points,or near resources, or even randomize their locations. The Rebels could also have stuctures you could capture to start producing rebels units/use support powers.

Positve Effect:
Having this option and its various variables as mentioned above could stop early expansions, early capturing tech structures,or rushing(if the rebels are powerful enough and in the right place.)This mechanic could also add an intresting flair to matches.

Negative Effect:
With the option to turn them off I dont really see a negative effect.

As long as they stay... useful to the story, then i support.

They were in Ts, mutants and civilian militia,.

Yes I support this, it's more commonly called Creep units, all the neutral and hostile units on the battlefield.

It would help make the battlefield feel more realistic with something actually out there that will try to attack your forces other than a opponent.

As long as they aren't on ranked maps I'm for it.

I don't want creeps, option or not.

y not?
Do you find them Creepy?!
I'm debating on if we should discuss specific units here or make a new thread.....

I'll make a new thread, since not everyone wants them....

I found it funny on some missions in Red Alert 2. When marching your army through a city or forest. A civilian with a gun might shoot at you or a alligator would randomly start attacking your units.

I would love to that feature come back in the future games.

If it's useful to the story.

Or if it works out Dota-ish with Roshan.

This would be nice, but not like in warcraft, enemies just protecting stupid mines. Make it like in tiberian sun, there was mutants and mutant soldiers

what about enemies like the monsters from tiberian sun? and like one of the missions in tiberian sun where you play as GDI with riot soldiers trying to stop the mutants and civilians fighting.
and i agree about having it as a option so you dont have to have them on if you dont like them.

I wanted to see a creep faction in a game that would have to pay in order to ally or get benefits from it. I believe this would be most benefical for a mutant faction WHICH I REALLY WANT TO SEE.

As long as they aren't on ranked maps I'm for it.

This is my answer aswell, keep them out of ranked maps and its fine.

The creep system was kinda annoying in WarCraft 3, if you were busy fighting off creeps and your army is around 40% health, and your enemy player comes in and attacks you, your f*cked.

Only with the option to turn them off would I agree with this. My major problem with having neutral units is that one side might have a huge disadvantage. One player could be free to do whatever while the other one is being heckled by the neutral units. Even if all they do is weaken the other player or distract him for a second, that might be enough to allow the other to win the whole match.

But yeah, if it's set to default to be off and players just want something interesting in the map I'm down with it.

It would certainly have to be balanced correctly as far as the number of neutral units. And, a player would have to be wise enough to mitigate them correctly while still playing attention to the whole game.

Edit: The "rebels" in Halo wars would never attack you directly, they would only act in defense of their base if you were attacking them.

Agreed, I loved this one map on RA2, It was in washington DC or something you had secret service guys protecting the white house!
it was so funny watching them crawl around shooting you(they were very difficult to kill)

Maybe we could have like USA remnants in Europe etc.? like parts of the USA forces that we're left behind in the last war.
thats if the USA isnt the third faction...

I don't see too much use for this since you can just kill them, why bother to hold them hostage?
