I have been playing C&C for years. I now have a computer with windows vista and it does not work on my computer. Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to play the game?

Which CnC are you playing?

Have you tried compatibility mode?

yeah, u should read those, but IMO, either a XP or 7 will do justice even more, its much better if u do.

windows vista is full of incompatibility issues. why did you choose vista?

TBH at least Vista runs RA1 decently, on Win7 the colours are always messing up

It's not an OS issue. It's either a gfx card issue, or if you're running xFire that's the problem. xFire does it to StarCraft 1.

Wrong. It's a color palette issue with Win7. Simple fix to lock the color palette down is to have the Windows Resolution screen config open in the background and then launch RA1 in Win7. This allows RA1 to use the correct color palette configuration it requires.

Yes that is the fix, but most of the time it doesn't work. When it does work I get the bug which causes the game to always minimize by itself. So I have to close the resolution box then the colours mess up again -.-

I never had that problem. You may need to shut some background programs down though.

Yes, but you will have to do some tweaking. For Tiberian Sun/FS and RA2/YR you will need to locate the .exe files and put them run as admin mode and compatibility modes. Generals may not detect your hardware so you have to google search a pre-made config file to edit yourself so the game detects your stuff. Everything else runs great.

i got tfd which as you may know has all the games up to ra2( i think that was the latest one on there, or was it generals?) anyway the games work but they def need tweaking. just some colour issues, and ra1 seems to play for 20 min at most on mine. but i have yet "tweaked" anything. I really miss the original original cnc, where you could build walls around the enemy and they would stay there lol. ra2 and yr work exceelent as does firestorm(hunter seeker kills my con yard every time, but when i deploy it it hits their infantry... wth?) generals, and renegade. just original cnc and ra need tweaking at this point
