Classic styled tech levels for skirmish and multiplayer games

Description:
As only seen in Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun, tech levels can bring a lot of variety to gameplay. Here's an example of 5 tech level system:

Level 1: Infantry only, basic light vehicles (scouts, APC's, reource gatherers), basic base defenses, power structure, Barracks, Refinery (or equivalent) and Con Yard/Command Center, War Factory

Level 2: Basic tanks, radar structure, basic walls (sandbags, barbed wire, etc.)

Level 3: Advanced vehicles and infantry, anti-vehicle base defenses, better walls

Level 4: Aircraft, Airfields/Helipads, anti-air base defenses and vehicles, best technology, no superweapons

Level 5: Addition of superweapons and commando units

Positive Effect:
- Classic system
- Adds variety and fun factor

Negative Effect:
- In online games, most people might still play with level 5 only

So you want to structure each faction like this?

or you mean just option of limiting techs and units?

Kinda like such systems, it's quite some fun in SupCom to limit players to only Tier 1 and have them duke it out with basic stuff only. Depending on game complexity, C&C too might do well with not just tech levels but also other category locks, like Aircraft, Naval, Defenses, Superweapons.

The concern with that is that then everything needs to be balanced on a level by level and unit by unit basis, and thAT makES some faction diversity just harder to achieve.

like if it was kw, and we limited 3 FFA nod players to T1, the vanilla nod player would be at a disadvantage.

Definitly one of the better suggestions i seen here, totally agree on it.
The tech lvl option in Tiberian Sun was brilliant, i definitly hope we see the return of something similar in future c&c games.

I like this idea. Even if there's not a full tech level selection, I would definitely like to see a toggle option for epic units and superweapons at least.

It could be even better if there was an ability for tier 3 units only or air warfare only or etc...

I'm ok with this as long as you have the option to control it. Unlike what they did at cnc4 where you have to slug yourself out to get to lv20.

I like the idea, gives players more choice as to what they would want to play with in a match.

Seeing as there are already maps out that only have infantry or tanks, I think that this would be well accepted as an option in skirmish & multiplayer.

It would be nice for a custom option along with the 5 tech levels, to be a catch-all for whatever players could come up with in unranked matches. (I.E. like gunships/helicopters only, along with basic vehicles, but all infantry and only defensive super weapons w/out support powers, or something of the sort)
