Hey!
Bought me first computer and game in about 6 years, CNC 4!!!!!! Only problem is that I can only get as far as pressing the "play" button on the first game and it crashes by throwing me back into windows and displaying a big window tiltled "game crash"
Any ideas guys?
Cheers

When I bought my new computer and connected online the first thing I did was update my software and hardware. There was heaps of Windows Updates even updates after updates. So maybe you can tell us if you did all the software hardware updates for your new computer, for if not it might not function properly after pressing a play button.
Can you tell us a bit more about the big window tiltled "game crash".
To give us an idea of your computer can you post a DXDIAG as maybe others and myself might be able to spot something that might be causing the problem. Here is how:
* Hold the Windows button on your Keyboard and press the "R" key.
* In the box, type the following: DXDIAG, then click OK.
* The Dxdiag program should appear. Click on the Save All Information button.
* Save the file somewhere easy to remember like your Desktop.
* Open the dxdiag text file and copy (only) the following sections into your post:
--- System Information
--- DxDiag Notes
--- Display Devices
--- Sound Devices

Thanks for the reply Eddy. I've already updated everything I can think of and I've attached a pic of the "game crash" window. Everything you've asked for should be below if I've done it right.

I've attached a pic of the "game crash" window.
I cannot see a picture, maybe it might have been too large to attach. Can you tell us what was the error message inside that "game crash" window.

Grrrrrrrr.
It suddenly occured to me to try and reinstall the game. So I tried and noticed the option to repair. Too good to be true I thought but tried anyways. Now when I start the game it has a shiny new window that tells me the "launcher has stopped working".
(bangs head against wall)

Don't know if this helps but I've just downloaded a game off Steam called "Universe at War". Mainly to see if it would work and funnily enough it doesn't!
I Get a little box this time that say "Abmornal game exit detected"
Don't know if this sheds any light on my main CNC4 problem.

Repair??? To uninstall the game and then install it again I don't think that there is a "repair". Well I was going to suggest to uninstall then install it again this as what you have on your computer might have been somehow corrupted. That error message "Can't open patch stream data......" could possibly happen with other games.
Next I was going to suggest to check your antivirus and firewall to see if the game has access for if not that could possibly cause a crash.
Also in regards to access and being a new computer do you really have User Access Control (UAC) turned on or off, maybe you might be interested in reading this.

If you tried all of the above and still have a problem then contact EA Support via the link "Contact Us" which is on the left hand side of this page.
