Just started a new single player campaign, first time I've placed TS in ages and I have one annoying issue I'm hoping someone can help me with.

It's the original version of TS (not the free download or First Decade), patched to 2.03, running on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit. Changed the resolution to 1920x1200 in the config file and it runs great, until I start constructing any building at which time the game slows down by a factor of at least 5-10 times until the building is finished, at which time game speed goes back to normal and I can place the building. Happens every time I start a new building constructing. Constructing units is fine, no slowdown at all.

Anyone else have/had this issue and know a workaround please? It's driving me crazy!

This happens to me too... usually when building Silos, walls or defenses. It's really annoying.

EDIT: I noticed that when I lowered my resolution to 800 x 600, the lag went away o.o

AFAIK it's an issue with the overlays used for construction (the gray tint and countdown clock) which hogs system resources like mad if you have too many icons showing at the same time (due to high screen resolution). I'd really like to know a solution other than reducing resolution myself.

FIX! Download the unofficial patch 2.04 for TS, that worked for me instead of decreasing resolution.

I can play with 1440 x 900 resolution with no lag during construction.
