I've googled every phrase imaginable to find out how in Skirmish mode to capture the nearby unoccupied refineries during my session of Red Alert on my iPhone 4.

Any advice, links?

I can't beat the computer with the difficulty setting of 3 stars because I'm not earning money fast enough to build my army bigger.

My 1 cent - I'm not aware of being able to capture enemy buildings...I think the only thing you can do is use a "thief" to steal the enemy's money from a refinery.

Updated - see post #4

Aren't there engineers in the Iphone 4 version?Engineers capture buildings[usually 3/building]

Thanks Kahuna09 -- while playing the skirmish "Island Wars Extreme (Mega 8 PLayers) game" to battle the ants I tried the engineers due to your post. It does take 3 engineers to steal an enemie's buildings.

Update on capturing any enemy building: I rediscovered this today: If you damage the building by attacking it (with troops or tanks) you can use one engineer to steal the building. Click on your engineer and put your cursor over the building -- you will see three red triangles...as the building is being damaged the three triangles will turn green -- at that point your engineer can steal it.

It can take up to four engineers to steal an undamaged war factory -- or any of the larger buildings. Best to damage it first and then steal it. Then repair it after stealing it.

I'l have to try that.Usually I wipe out all defensive structures with my air support or long range artillery while I make APC's and fill them with Tanya's and engineers. When I have the defenses whittled down enough I take out the structures I dont want with the Tanyas and also have them standing by in case the enemy sends out troops again[tanyas rule when mowing down infrantry] and also keep tanks nearby for the enemy counter attacks with their own tanks out of the support buildings.I then systematically take the structure I want like the constreuction yard ,war factory and barracks while taking the refineries as secondary targets. This limits my own casualties to very few and then I can repair all after I take the base and start cranking out units[I try to take my enemy targets that possess what I don't have yet that I can build.]Like if I was playing as Allies I'd hit the Russian, or vice versa,so that afterwards I can build it all if needed.

I just played "The hills Have Eyes" against 4 AIs and started stealing their buildings with engineers to defeat them. I didn't even bother to build helicopter pads or airfields either -- saved a lot of funds that way. The partisans helped out a lot too...LoL! Helps if you start out on the northwest corner or the southeast corner so that you're the farthest away from the civilians!

I usually play that with 3 AI's and I wall off the partisans as soon as I can[sandbags and cement].Then I take over my nearest neighbor I have[hopefully the opposte of my forces].Afterwards I build up forces and techs while constructing a fence wall that directs the partisans straight to my biggest and most well developed enemy. Is lots of fun watching them attack my enemy and I sit back[defense] and wait. That's usually enough there to win the game!:-)
