New to the forum, but tried to do my homework before I posted. I had previously installed CC generals on windows 7 and it worked fine. Unfortunitly after a crash and a windows 7 reinstall, I reinstalled generals and did the 104 update and added the info to the options.ini file. After all of this I just want to play skirmish games and after about 30 seconds everything explodes and I loose. I can't figure it out and I can't find any info other than my serial code is invalid which is BS. Any ideas?

I've been getting the same problem. I've just installed Zero Hour after getting Windows 7,
Generals is working fine, but Zero hour decides to blow up my buildings whenever playing.
'Anti-Cheat System' my ***...

I've done everything too, I've;

Re-Installed (5 times)
Followed the 'Installation Guide' word for word (3 times of the above)
Downloaded and Run 'datgen.exe' (Around 15 times)
Used profanities (Uncountable amount of times)
And a ton of other bollocks that doesn't even work.

I don't give a damn if it's a nine year old game, they should at least give us some actual support on it, considering that Zero Hour only seems to work on XP, and Generals 2 won't, it seems like I can't play both of these games properly on the same PC.

If the 'anti-cracked' system seems to be kicking in when it shouldn't and it cannot be prevented, then can't you at least disable it for me?

/complaining.

Here's links to the stuff that 'should' work (but don't for me);

Hmm....haven't tested the Skirmish mode in ZH yet.

I had the problem of not being able to get past the first missions (kept coming up "Play Again" or Exit, not Continue.

Ok, so you would have read http://www.commandandconquer.com/en/blogs/blog/179 ?

That says run the installer (setup.exe) in Win XP SP3 mode, and as administrator. Then patch the game (doesn't say if to run the patch in Win XP SP3 mode and as admin though). Then do the XP SP3 admin thing on the generals.exe.

In my case, I did that, but had the first campaign mission problems. 4 uninstall/reinstalls, then ran datgen.exe. No help. Read somewhere about running under Win 2000 comp. mode. Didn't help.

After running datgen.exe, rather than un+reinstall I then decided to turn off the WIN XP SP3 compatibility mode (kept run as administrator on). So it runs in Windows 7. I can't remember if I did the options.ini file thing.

Campaign now works fine. Haven't tested skirmish - only difference is that I get a static (non-animated) title screen, instead of the animated one in the game engine showing that battle.

Tell me if that works. (PS: Not sure why I have this problem with ZH. I run Generals in Win XP SP3 comp mode without problems, and I don't think I needed to do that options.ini file thing).

You Must Download DatGen.exe (http://lazy.telenet.ru/files/cnc/DatGenZH.exe). you have to copy this file in the game folder and run it. visually - nothing will happen. and yet, in the register will be generated something there (not interested, whatever) - and explosions in the game is no more.
