well for a web browser inside of the windows7 OS anyway.
meet IE9: just released in full public release. I have been following it since alpha and the developers preview, and I quite like it.
I haven't installed it on my pc, because of windows DRM that blocks me downloading any service packs or non-critical windows updates, since im stil using build 7100(the RC1 version).
If you guys use windows 7, I recommend you download it in any case, because of 2 reasons:
1)There are applications inside of windows(and even some games) that use Internet Explorer to interact on the internet- even though they will use their own window and GUI.
2)Each version of Internet explorer has both cumulative updates and new tweaks to improve both general pc security and stability within your browser.
Before you all start slinging your Mozilla fanboyism at me, give the browser a try if you haven't already and see why it maintains a superbly high score on the Acid 3 test. last time I tested, it was only 2 points behind Chrome which holds the highest score for browsers so far.

Well, that may be true, but I am waiting for FF4 before passing any judgment.
Poor Opera though.

I won't knock it...IE just doesn't want to work for me...I had to go to Chrome.

i tend to agree. and with last weeks update that fixed a few core issues, it is great to see that Chrome is still doing it best

Firefox is still my primary browser. But for a secondary, I ditched chrome, and moved to IE9. My chrome crashes all the time on sites own by google of all things (youtube, gmail, etc... how ironic). I have to admit, I have always hated IE, but IE9 is a very pretty browser.
Edit: Since we're all doing it:
Firefox>IE9>Chrome>IE8>Safari
Never tried Opera.

no. I support good products. And you all should know that Chrome is based on Apple's webkit engine that they use in Safari.
I know that half of you will immediately uninstall chrome now that I have revealed that- but in general, chrome is the best- though I have noticed since last weeks update, my flash player occasionally fails to launch properly in youtube. the audio will play, but test from either the previous page, or the previous tab I viewed will be displayed instead- until i use aero snap to resize the window

I'm still all about Firefox though, because I like the interface as it is, and IE I am very ambivalent about. Just use it for sites that don't render well enough in FF, of which it is a minority.
I should probably give Chrome a spin some day though, but I am comfortable with FF as it is.

at the end of the day,you have all missed the 2 reasons why you should upgrade to IE9- even if you never plan on using it.
And as for the mozilla people talk: like I would believe a Mozilla developer talking down IE9

Because we are mostly using Windows OSes and upgrading it to get our alternate browsers are cool?
And frankly, you ain't gonna convince anyone with Chrome/Safari to switch, maybe FF3.6 users, but FF has mindshare. Though Safari on Windows really isn't my cup of tea.
apt.pupil

im not convioncing people to switch. Im saying that IE9 fixes a lot of bugs in the IE8 engine, and believe it or not, windows uses IE8 not just for browsing or online help. so far, every windows based MMO uses the IE engine for the client. thats just one example out there, there are a lot of other applications that use the IE engine without actually launching IE. IE IS heavily integrated into windows itself, which is why removing it is almost impossible to to without having nasty side effects

Nah, we will definitely upgrade it, but we will probably not use it save for the time you need your alternate browser.

Chrome I just dislike it ever since when it first came out that whole drama regarding google tracking our surfing habits just annoyed me. Plus I won't use Chrome until the Keyscrambler add-on gets supported on it. I use FF and IE9 for now.

I do that on FF, thank you very much.
Besides, you have to use IE when you first start a system with a clean installation of the system for that download of the alternate browser.

its not exactly the best linux OS out there. I have always had troubles with Ubuntu every time I try and use it

I havent yet found what I would call a reliable Linux OS.
I am also yet to find any USEFUL debugging tools for when hardware and drivers fail on linux too, which added to my previous issues. Using the windows BSoD, I can at least find and fix errors- if there are fixes available

Well apart from the lack of "useful" debugging tools, what other problems do you have with Linux Operating Systems?
apt.pupil
03-22-2011, 03:57 AM
software compatibility.
their stupid console syntax
and both GNOME and KDE are too mac- like in UI experience
dont get me wrong: I dont mind the mac OS UI. it is simple to find and locate important stuff(unlike some recent MS OS- I had to make a GodMode folder), but Linuz should make a better effort to differentiate themselves from mac: Apple did start off by using the linux kernel after all

Well this iIS a first:
after spending some time up close and personal with a fresh clean reinstall of firefox 4 RC, I am finding that there are still issues that I hate about firefox.
in the "awesome" address bar, you still can not leave out either the http:// or the www. in the website address you wish to visit. I find this particularly annoying since the "www." was phased out of compulsory by ICANN, yet only Opera, safari, and Chrome are up with the times. According to the W3C, you should type the http:// but if chrome and Opera are automatically finding the web page protocol for you without the "www.", then why does this browser insist on being behind the times. Efficiency people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am still finding that memory use is well and truly above chrome- and that each tab does not have their own separate process. I have had to reset the entire browser twice already because one tab got "too busy" or crashed.
the only good thing so far is that the pages load just as fast as chrome now, once I wait the full 10 seconds for firefox to finish starting up. Don't blame it on my pc, because chrome does it in 2 on my pc, IE8 does it in 4, and on my laptop, chrome does it in 1, and IE9 in 3.

Yeah, and the flash videos still reset when you move a tab out into a new window. However they have fixed up the multiple tabs= multiple windows bug that was in the beta
