I thought I've grown out of metal, but.. Why does everything sound better with it?

    ..Okay, almost everything.

Edit: Boy this is a skilled band doing that cover. The production is great, and the guitar sound.. Oh my, the guitars, they are crushing.

Metal is like Warhammer 40,000, makes everything epic and badass.

After a long time of believing so, I noticed that it is not always true.. At least, when it comes to metal. Truth be told, much of metal is generic, badly produced, poorly written. Also.. Metal is often not badass. Why? Because metal is either agressive or melodic, most bands have problems with doing anything other than that (I am not counting prog/avant garde/folk etc. stuff). And, while there is nothing wrong with that, much of the "melodic" parts are cheesy, oversweeted choruses with nothing cool about them. Really, a lot of rock and pop (!) artists have more "badass" melodies and parts than modern melodic death metal acts. Simply because pop and rock artists understand that if you play softly and with a melody, then you still can do creative, interesting, sometimes dark and unpleasant music. The moment 80% of metal bands starts playing a melody, even the darkest of death and black metals turn into kindergarten singalong songs.

For WH40k: Yeah, I agree. For the most part. Untill I saw..

It's a huge subgenre all of it's own (to the moment it barely resembles traditional death metal).

I guess you are either unaware of it or you hate it.

This was pretty good. But my favorite is Nightwish.
