  • Planetary Annihilation

It has come to my attention that a new game called Planetary Annihilation is being developed by Uber Entertainment.

So excited for this. But I better keep this post related to C&C otherwise it will get removed. Where this game will succeed and C&C will fail. Maybe the EA devs can learn from this...
    • Passionate developers, (nearly) everyone from the team has an RTS background.
    • Kickstarter, they're getting the community involved heavily at an early stage. Also, you can get goodies!
    • They've gone all out on sharing information about the game. Not leaving the community in the dark.
    • The trailer partly shows the design process.
    • They say they are going to listen to the fans.
    • It has an original, unique art direction.
    • Innovative game-play using the multiple planet system.
    • Skirmish + LAN emphasis.
    • Mod support, OMG...
    • Procedural planet creator. New map each time I play, awesome.
    • Persistent debris, wrecks.
    • Diversification. Want to play a 20min match, or a 12hr game. Suits all types of RTS gamers.
    • The core game play itself is driven by the fundamentals of RTS ideologies.
    • Great soundtrack so far, emotionally driven orchestral, not upbeat like in the new C&C trailer
    • And so many more things...

Discuss. Support the Kickstarter if you have the cash.

A Total Annihilation sort of "evolution"?

Why not, the game was and still is so good. And it outlived Starcraft.

P.S. Don' you want to change your signature Fxor?

OMG its C&C plus Simcity MINUS EA! Like! Kinetic Bomber, I'll scream Genki Dama when I'll use this. Better yet we should have one too :P I hope there will be space battles too and perhaps naval too?

I absolutely adore the style here. The blocky designs coupled with the type of rendering remind me of Lego, and how can one not love Lego

It's also proof that a cartoony style can work, you just need to pit some heart into it rather than hire underpaid subcontractors to design your units for you.

Reminds me so much of 'Monday Night Combat.' Can't wait for this.

Now this is the kind of game that EA really lacks lately.

But the theme of this RTS game is kind of more cartoonish than RA3 even if you add in the Sims portion with C&C to create something like this.

Speaking of Uber Entertainment, all of you guys should go play Super Monday Night Combat.

                    looks awesome!
however gigantic battles must not be everything!while smashing big armies is fun,i also like to play around with few units with micro!
hope the game will be fast paced.
anyway can't wait for more news

Sounds good! Now this is the company that I can entrust the Simcity and C&C franchise.

Well, the game itself is expanding teh Total Annihilation formula. The same formula that was also used in Supreme Commander 1 (not 2), so it shouldn't be very fast paced. However, since you can change the number of planets, their size and also tinker with unit cap, it shouldn't be hars to make fast paced scenarios.
