    #1
I have 3 cpoies of this game (zero hour) and 3 different cdkeys. I have edited my registery with all 3 cdkeys and I get the same error...invalid cdkey input new key.
So what gives? Emailed tech and I got an email back saying get right back with you but a day has passed and notta.
    ANyone have any suggestions?

Avoid the email system they have in place, go to the live chat, and explain your problem their provide the support ticket number too if it was given, and be ready to have proof of purchase, they should be able to give you or sort out the keys.

I had the same issue, seems to be a recurring issue with generals and zero hour.

Hmm about the only proof I have is the cdkeys on the books that come with the game. I did try to do the online support thing but only option it gave me was to email them. Will go take another look and maybe I missed something.
This happened to be before but quite awhile ago and I got it resolved by calling in I do believe. Might have to do that.
      Thanks for responding though.

Ok, so far I called EA games support in the U.S on +1-650-628-4306 and explained the problem they said the servers are no longer with them and they could not give me a new CD key, but to go to http://strike-team.net as it is with them. I go on to http://strike-team.net and see a post saying Command and Conquer Generals and Zero Hour - Note - XWIS does not support Generals and Zero Hour.

I will keep searching and let u guys know how this BS turns out...

            ---------- Update --------

So I emailed The admin of Strike team Mr.Olaf Van Der Spek asking him if they support Generals Zero Hour and got a swift replay back from him saying

            "EA does, ST/XWIS never did.

            Greetings,

            Olaf"

Will look more into this issue and post back later

            Peace

I think Strike-Team only handles TD-RA2... But this forum cannot help you, you must contact EA customer support and somehow get it into their heads that the problem is their to fix.

                -------------------Update------------------
Ok so i called the EA support again (3rd time calling) on +1 650 628 4306 and pressed option 3 for origin, gave the support agent my case number which has the whole story on file, he said he will file a request for a new serial number and email it to me but it can take 3 to 5 working days. will update everybody on this issue and hope it helps you guys.

                peace for now

                -----------------Older post----------------

Hi Klandri, You are right strike-team only handles TD-RA2, the site help.ea.com does not provide a number or email it just gives this forum which i explained to EA customer support on the phone (+1-650-628-4306) that there is no support for our problem. I will call that number again n hope i find a solution. If i do i will update everybody on this forum.

                Thanks

                  [Updated 3/5/2012]
Hey guys great news I found a way to fix the "invalid serial number" error! its kind of funny actually after spending days figuring this out.

If you bought the original game then your serial number is actually valid. weird huh? The real problem is that the serial key gets registered without the - (dahs's) and we will need to include them using a windows utility called regedit.

                  its simple follow these steps

1.On your windows machine click on start and in the (Search for programs and files) box type in regedit and open regedit.exe

                  2. Next click on the little arrow next to the folder named HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and make your way to ergc directory the full path is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour -> ergc

Note: If you cannot find Wow6432Node then ignore it and procees to Electronic Arts -> EA Games Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour -> ergc. Thanks to Khalilz for pointing this out.

                  3. Click on the ergc directory and right click on Default (located on the right side under Name) and Modify it.

                  4. Now simply add the - between the serial numbers.Write it exactly how its written on the game you bought. if you notice It only displays your serial number without the - between the code so you will just need to add them in

for example change it from 123A5678B8CDD3D3P0P0 to 123A-5678-B8CD-D3D3-P0P0 now try playing the same you should be able to play it online

                  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you try playing and your buildings blow up 30 seconds into the game there is another fix for this.
This is a built in feature EA added to help prevent anti-piracy

[Make sure you read the steps above then continue reading this]

Have the regedit open on ergc directory copy the serial that you have modified (the serial number that you included with the -) and uninstall zero hour keeping the regedit still open on the ergc directory.

Now heres the trick, we will need to reinstall zero hour BUT as it is installing zero hour we quickly replace the registry with the modified serial number that included the dash's. So put the CD in and start up the installation process when it will prompts you for the serial number type the serial number as you normally would and as soon as you put the serial number click next and stop there, dont install zero just yet!

Now go to the opened regedit.exe and click on ergc directory using and modify the default registry key by adding the dashs in the serial key. And then proceed installing zero hour. this will help bypass the built in anti-piracy glitch and it will work!

Let me know if this works and thank me when you get the time enjoy guys looking forward to playing with you

                  regards,
                  J0k3rr
