  • Generals 2 announced!

    #1
    Welcome back, General!

You probably already heard about it – Command & Conquer: Generals 2 has been announced with an awesome trailer – Check it out here!

As you can see, we have heard your feedback and stepped back and focused on the RTS elements you would expect from a C&C game like resource gathering, base building and commanding a lot of units! But that’s not all – We’re throwing in the cutting edge Frostbite 2 technology as the foundation of our brand-new engine while adding features you've always looked for in past C&C games.

I am very excited about Generals 2. I believe that this game will fulfill your expectations – BUT – we aren’t there yet and there is a long path to go. It’s a path where we will need your help, patience, creativity and imagination to form one of the best C&C games ever made.

Can’t wait to see you all out there on the battlefield!

Using Frostbite 2 here is probably the biggest highlight for me about this game so far.

    Finally saying goodbye to SAGE.

I just wonder how *much* "Frostbite 2 technology" is being used.

Well, it's probably the only one so far. Looking forward to more news!

Just want to say THANK YOU to you guys and gals developing this game.

The biggest selling point for me is the return to RTS elements, keep up the good work

I'm gonna hope that the story is a little more thought out than "all of a sudden, all activists, politicians, and leaders except for military ones die in an instant" (paraphrasing). Not to say that such a story couldn't be an interesting option to explore, especially since the C&C verse puts a lot of good character on military commanders (particularly Allied/GDI/Whoever is the Good Guy (or closest to) faction ones), but I'll admit that until we get more information I'll remain healthily skeptical.

However, it is awesome that C&C is going to be coming back, though I'm wondering... since Bioware is on the table for it, are we going to see perhaps some partial merging of RPG elements? If that's done... we could tie in what it means to be a commander in the Command and Conquer verse. Are they humble protectors of the innocent, people just doing their duties, warriors seeking glory, or just utter madmen?

Lot of possibilities to look at...

I would agree with that.... if Frostbite 2 was a moddable engine, which, unfortunately, is not the case.

              So it's just a negative highlight. .

I'm kinda behind the ball when it comes to modding, what does it even mean that Frostbite 2 isn't moddable?

Finally! It's going to be epic and, by all means, take your time.

Also possibly finally saying goodbye to mapping & modding...Not sure how great that is.

Considering that I had the frostbite engine on my wish list for the next command and conquer I am so very happy right now

I hope it will be released on Steam, because Origin's regional politics block The First Decade.

VG is a part of BioWare now.

Funny part is that clicking up there still brings up the "Victory Games" summary.

                              EDIT:
Actually the logo reappeared for me. :/ .
