Australia needs some love!
No but seriously, how cool would it be to have an Australian faction. I'm sure they could pull some story out of their asses to make it work

Australia definitely deserves to get involved. If not a faction at least in the story line using USA/EU technology.

Peoples Republic of China. EU, GLA and the PRC for the initial game. USA could later be added in a standalone expansion pack.
Factions should only be real countries/organizations whose military has a global appeal.

Here's a radical alternative idea for accommodating multiple countries militaries while still maintaining the 3 faction balance:
1) Allied
United States of America
European Union
2) Soviet
Peoples Replublic of China
Russian Federation
3) Rebel
Mujahedin (mid-eastern)
Vietcong (south-east asian)
Guerrilla (latin american)
Partizan (european)
Faction - This defines your gameplay style. Much like Generals 1 where each faction was distinct.
Military - This defines/swops your visual and audio theme.
After you select your faction you then select a military which defines your visual and audio theme. So if you chose Allied and USA you would get a F-35 fighter, but if you chose Allied and EU you get the British Harrier. Both units despite the visual change are functionally identical so balance is maintained. Similarly if you chose Soviet and PRC you get Asian themed structures, but if Soviet and RF is chosen you get RA style structures. Unit voices and musical themes change as well.
This system seems ideal for DLC monetization. More countries militaries can be bought and added under each faction while still maintaining 3 faction balance.

Это уже не войска России. А армия ОДКБ.(организация договора коллектвной безопасноста)
Фактически войска СНГ. И свои знаки у этого договора есть.
This is not the Russian troops. And the army CSTO.
In fact, the troops of the CIS. And their marks in this agreement is.
