  • Voice acting should be priority one in the cutscenes.

We all know this is something which hasnt been given enough love, too often voice acting in C&C has had more to do with campiness, easy humour and chessiness than real drama, character development and immersive narrative, it would be great that this time, since EA are trying to make things more serious and are dealing with modern day themes there could be more level in the voice acting, it would be good to see them cotnracting really good voice actors and give them time to do a nice job, what do you think on this?

I think we can expect very good actors, because all the Bioware games shined with really good character voices and now they are working on C&C. Definitely they will manage it for this game, too.

I really hope, although I am not sure how are they going to implemented if they use real-life actors, Bioware had the advantage all their characters were 3D designed, maybe EA can take example of Renegade, after all they used 3D models there too (although of course they looked awful since 3D was still primitive).

Screw actors, unless they are cheaper than CGI characters. CGI characters don't need well known voices.

$$$ -> game development, not marketing material

A good game requires a good campaign, a good campaign requires good story, a good story requires good voice actores, it's part of the game development, and I am sure a lot of people are missing a compelling campaign.

Yes plz, but it really depends if EA is willing to spend money on the actors.

Oh, we don't know yet if there will even be voice actors or real, live actors. Apparently, EA is open to both possibilities. (According to Eric)

But yes, less campiness sounds great. Units should also only sound campy when clicked on too many times, such as with Blizzard's RTS games.

I just wonder should they get well known actors or unknown ones?

Considering the budget, possibly both. Known actors for important roles and unknown ones for smaller roles. And that is, in both cases whether they decide to go for voice only or live action.

I think it would be better to have actual characters appear in the game. I actually like to see the advisor or whatever appear in the radar screen during a mission to update you. It feels more realistic.

That's not a problem with CGI units, right now technology has advanced so far that most 3D characters look very well both in cutscenes and ingame, also we have the advantage of countring with Frosbite 2.0, voices in the other hand are still recorded the old fashioned way bcs no computer program cant still bring such array of personality to a mechanically produced voice, on the other hand a good actor can bring an exceptional quality to a CGI chracter by making his/her voice unique, for example Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie and Kevin McKidd are very recognized for their voice acting, besides, I am sure its cheaper to get only their voices than make an entire film record of these guys.
