  • official " C&C all stars"?

    #1
the fact that they said after generals they will incorporate red alert and tiberium universe into this free to play design,

does that mean eventually they will make it possible to fight the factions against each other?

    nod vs GLA
    Allies vs china
    soviets vs GDI

    etc etc.

of course it would come after gen 2 content of missions and skirmish
then the same content of each red alert 4 and tiberium 5 but once the units are all there its super easy for them to make it happen (onless they need some serious balancing issues)

it was highly unlikely for them to do that as a sale-able game as people would scream it being used as a cash cow but f2p means they can do it without any such problems.

    is this where its going?

I think it is more of you starting the launcher and then choosing if you want to play gens, tib or ra.

I hope not. Those should be and stay separate universes. Those who want realism would go for Generals universe. Those who prefer over-the-top action would go for RA universe.

I don't even know how something like that would be possible in the first place. The base building, unit training, resource gathering and other numerous systems are completely different in those games.

it would only be a game variant. like how fps has capture the flag or deathmatch. it would be separate.

you would be able to go onto
          generals universe
          red alert universe
          tiberium universe
then another launcher would be available

ALL STARS (would probably come up with their own name)

the resource issue isnt that bad as supply trucks and harvesters do the exact same thing. go to a resource, pick it up, go back to drop it off. maybe they could come up with a new resource for it, or adapt harvesters to carry supplies.

          generals is serious designs
and c&c4 went toy town and was highly slated so that should return to more serious/futuristic designs
red alert was serious to start with and that should go back that way more aswel imo

I imagine they will be kept separate but an officially made game like that would be pretty neat

              keep the universes split...

still I don't know how to revive tib and RA because both are pretty much dead

If this is what Bioware/Victory is heading to C&C All-Stars, the CNCLabs team will not believe this.

You did not read the actual interview with JVC right? He mentioned that the future games would be BASED on this platform, BUT the universes will be kept split. No mentions of a universe fusion. Please read the interviews slow.

I think this is a stretch. It's a very good idea for all of the universes to separately explore gameplay mechanics on their own. There's a very, very real problem of trying to balance all of the factions with each other while not making them - gameplay wise - essentially carbon copies of each other.

In order to maintain balance with a game that was developed with several year's older thinking is simply to stifle innovation, and that's very, very bad.

Everyone has to admit it'd be pretty cool, maybe a good idea for a mod.

no i didnt see it, when was this one out, with the new anouncement? theres so much talk on the forum i havnt read everything so i was bound to miss something i spose.

plans change tho, such as the f2p switch etc. they could change there minds. as for the they should be kept seperate issue. im talking about a multiplayer/skirmish only part. not making a story out of it. all it would be is units fighting. the only issue i see is balance.

when its done as a mod there are no complaints, i dont really see why its a problem if its done by the original developer tbh.

Welcome to the difference between amateur and professional. Things that are praised as an amateur project don't always translate well into a professional product. People are also generally more lenient on mods because they're mods.

Though, the mod didn't actually do like Nod vs GLA matchups. They combined the series into Tiberian, Red Alert, and Generals and hand-selected units for each. This creates a separate matchup of 3 factions, but each of those factions have a diverse mix. This creates a unique atmosphere to create custom rules so mashups can be balanced within each other.

The problem you're going to run into is that in order to keep the balance for every faction spanning years time you have to stifle innovation, or they just won't work with each other due to the games presenting separate rules (like the worker vs MCV) and may lead to a severe imbalance. Case and point: let's say in a future Red Alert game, they want to continue the vain of the navy and having each unit with mulitple abilities. That's not going to work out with a Generals-type faction where you have only a few multiple ability units and no navy.

C&C All Stars? Wow...nice assumptions but ..NO. Blizzard would take issue with the All Stars piece almost immediately and C&C doesn't fit the LoL model at all. It simply won't work like fantasy oriented content would.
