Description:
Most RTS games have some sort of unit experience feature allready. But it usually caps at max 3 levels of veteranity. It would be great to be able to get more experience to the units and get real tough veteran units by leveling them up. Perhaps even allowing the to carry veteran equipment, looted enemy weapons etc. How about transfering a squad of your veterans to the next mission?
Positive Effect:
Keeping units alive would actually be usefull when they would eet stronger by every battle (if healed) and this could make Zerg-rush tactic less usefull. Would give something more to grind for. Veteran units might make the less powerfull units more usefull with time.
Negative Effect:
Too high leveled units might be difficult to balance and become overpowered. Trying to keep units alive to gain them experience might slow games down when everyone would be afraid to get their veteran units killed.
