    Subject:
    Mod capabilites / interfaces

    Description:
In my opinion the upcoming C&C should have a really solid mod environment. Objects and their behaviors should be accessible and maybe even with an interface to implement completely new behaviors via lua or even c++ (or c# if you would like to support that ^^). There should be more room to create new interactions with objects. TW had a good lua system but it was lacking some very important parts like getting more information about other objects, targets, etc.
For example if you could get the target for a move order anyone could write a small lua code to recreate a chrono legionnaire, or getting the position of an object so you could interact with it.

Also an interface for new post effect shaders would be nice. It was often daunting to abuse/change the TW ones to get the desired effect.
But please don't make a tool like Blizzard that you have to use to change values. The ini/xml files in previous SAGE games were great. The only problem was they were somewhat restricting as you couldn't create new behaviors.

    Edit
Oh and please don't use parts of software you can't give the community tools/information how to mod them, like the AptUI in previous games. There is a UI editor for that being made but it is also over 5 years since its first occurrence in BfME.
    /Edit

    Positive Effect:
A happy mod community if done right ^^

    Negative Effect:
Could be hard to learn for beginners if it's done with more real code instead of ini/xml.

Well... I think engine must be more um... Massive than SAGE. I'm talking about big levels and world.

Completely agree. The sheer possibilities of Engines tooled towards allowing basic code processing like SupCom are mind breaking. Despite all circumstances, the C&C modding community is still very solid and could create some of the best Mods ever seen.

If they remake Generals modding capabilities then Hell Yeah

No way, Generals was crap compared to TW! In case of doubt they should go for a more powerful implementation and leave teaching of less-experienced modders to the experienced ones - I know this took some time with TW but the community seems to be on the verge of steering exactly into this direction, at elast in terms of capabilities.

How about both? And ini/xml system to create units and such, and full code support for more experienced and ambitious coders, sort of the best of both worlds. Simple changes will be easy and complicated ones difficult, but both possible and both supported.

                I 100,000% agree.

That means I agree a lot right? Because I want to be clear here.....I agree a lot.

i agree fully, but the xml/ini files should be left just to provide a basic modding capability then the modder once got the basics of the game can then move on to the more advance code

i would also suggest have more support for the different 3D modeling programs out there, ie blender, gmax and 3dsmax that way if you want to mod you are not made to relearn how to mod on a different program

You could always write a plugin for these programs. The schema of w3x isn't that difficult.

Yes, give us mod capabilities so we can fix the balance ourselves.

Oh, yeah, give us a mod sdk to C&C 4 too.

Although I have little idea what you mean, I trust your judgement.

Would the engine matter? and how so?

                          Someone said Frostbite 2.0.......

Added something important to the opening post that I forgot earlier.
