  • Story Less betraying

    #1
    Subject:
Less betrayals between characters of the same faction in storyline

    Description:

    *May contain spoilers*

Most C&C games have had more or less betraying, but I think the biggest one when it comes to betraying is Red Alert 3. Empire of the Rising Sun characters are cool guys, they don't betray anyone (except in RA3 Uprising).

At first, Premier Cherdenko orders you to destroy General Krukov claiming that he's the traitor. Later the Premier himself betrays the player.

In the Allied campaign, the President Ackerman betrays you. Even though he is afterall a EotRS spy robot thingy, lets count it as a betrayal.

In RA3 Uprising Allied campaign, you fight along Crown Prince Tatsu to defeat 3 EotRS commanders. After you've taken care of them all, Tatsu betrays you.

And finally in C&C3 Killian Qatar betrays all Nod except her followers, obviously, and in C&C4 everyone betrays everyone, basically.

    Positive Effect:
    - More solid factions in storyline
    - No more fighting your against your own faction

    Negative Effect:
    - I seriously don't see anything negative about this, but if you do, leave a reply

    Media:
    No media here

I dont care. But for NOD (if there would be another tib - in the FAR future) there must people betray each other. Otherwise it doesnt feel like NOD

I actually think there's a good reason for so many betrayals. Its because to give them a reason to fight another faction (the same one your playing) for a change, instead of always your obvious enemies. For example Krukov and Cherdenko betrayed you, gave you 2 reasons to fight the Soviets as the Soviets.

I don't mind all the betrayals as long as it makes a good story

I think that betrayals should happen, but I think that it should be unexpected in a lot of cases.

Note Killian didn't actually betray Kane

No she went defensive. Alexa framed her for the attack on temple Prime and believing Kain dead did the best she could.

Yes, that's what I meant. Not really "crazy", just...well, defensive.
And it's Kane, not Kain. Not Cain, not Kain, not even Sugar Cane. Kane.

Inter group conflict is actually the most common.

Imo it's just getting rather old and expected now.....

She did. She doubted him, and she actually believed he was dead. The unbelievers who doubt Kane are traitors to the Brotherhood.

Betrayal seems to be a very common in C&C it's actually harder for me to think of a game where there was no betrayal. I actually liked that RA3 had a prominent Allied figure go rogue for once. It really gets annoying when the "bad" guys are the only ones who have high profile traitors.

I am starting to get tired of betrayals, seriously, there should be more creative subplots, betrayal inside an "evil" organization has become too cliched, we are long ahead 80s cartoons, besides, we all know betraying in C&C is a nearly automatic death sentence.

Hm. That's true, but we haven't seen something minor like this (1:02) in a while.

I prefer this, amongst other things because at difference of Kane at TD Megatron at WFC managed to control dark energon by himself, his victories are canon, and he has the guts to lead suicide missions while still shooting minions IF they show cowardice instead of getting angry with someone for just telling him the truth (which is the case of Kane in TD), accepts suggestions and second opinions from Brawl, Soundwave and Breakdown, while still being villainous:

WFC iteration of Megatron (we all know most of the time he is just a saturday's cartoon villain since G1) is one of the few examples in the media which can actually teach some tips to Kane, at least, of course, until C&C3, where Kane truely shows he actually knows what he is doing.

I just really hope they keep Kane as he is on C&C3, while TD execution of Seth was justified and TS Kane's return was awesome he somehow lacked real canonical success and most of his charisma was dulled by repeated defeats.

Yeah betrayals are cliched now... but some intra-faction conflict would be nice

maybe in the next game you (the player/commander/general) will be the traitor, that sound original right ?
