  • A.I. Co-Op

    #1
    Subject:
An option to enable the A.I. to build and manage a base, aiding the player.

    Description:

By selecting a Dozer, the player would have the choice to make it build a special structure called: "A.I. Command Center".

Only one "A.I. Command Center" can be built.
Only one base can be managed by the A.I.
Anything built by the A.I. Dozers can't be taken in control by the player.
The player would share his credits with the A.I.
    The A.I. can't control the player's base.

The player would choose the option for the Dozer to start building its Command Center, then he chooses where he wants to be located, and immediately after that, the player would start transferring the exact amount of credits needed to build the designated A.I. Command Center. When the selected Dozer finishes building the A.I. Command Center, his control is switched to the A.I., thus allowing it to further developing its base. With the A.I. Command Center ready, the player would start sharing his credits with it.

When selecting which "A.I. Command Center" to build, the player would be able to choose between three styles of base for the A.I.:

    Agressive.
    Defensive.
    Supportive.

That's it!. Be advised that what I wrote is MY view on that idea. Surely, you guys are more than welcome to present your own view! And you guys from Bioware Victory are free to shape this in whatever you guys want. Just remember that my main idea here is:

To create a way to make the option for Co-Op always present!

    Positive Effect:
    - It's an optional feature; don't like it? Don't use it!
    - It would be appealing to newcomers.
    - It would attach more value to the C&C franchise.
    - It's a feature that could be implemented in all future C&Cs.
    - Being an in-game feature is better than being a story-wise feature, like in RA3; it's a lot harder to replicate Co-OP as seen in RA3, as everything has to be made specially for that purpose.
    - It could be made a way to let other player join your game and manage the other base.
    - Story-wise Co-Op would still be able to be done even with this feature.

    Negative Effect:
    - I guess it would need a lot of effort to balance the A.I.'s power so it doesn't do everything for the player.
    - No multiplayer version of this feature; for balance purposes.
    - Campaign/Skirmish only.

    Media:
    - Nothing to add here.

So, let me know what you guys think. And, I'm not a native English speaker, so, bear with my writing skills, please!

    Thanks for your attention! \o/

Interesting, I think it could work out quite nicely.

        Update:

        - The "special dozer" thing as a necessity to build an A.I. base was kind useless and redundant. So I changed and now any dozer can build an "A.I. Command Center" once.

        - I improved some other points.

Thanks for the support, guys! \o/

No CO-OP. It was not very good or fun in red alert 3.

I don't know if it's a nice feature because managing the base is part of the game play, I really love building oversized bases with all factions, it would be a spoiler to me if a dozer builds all for me. But that's just me...
However i love the idea of presetting the A.I. like Agressive, Defensive, Builder, Supportive and random as in Age of Mythology.

I think that in co-op play with AI will be more useful to have chance to give AI control over your base (building and gathering units included) while you do better micro or control multiple armies (potencialy take control even over ally AI units while AI keep control over both your and his base).

If controling two armies it have some sense, although it isn't some breaking idea and it take a lot of programing time resources to work properly.

genuinely good idea. This reminds me of something from Rise of Nations: In rise of nations you could put the player on the same team as AI and set it so that AI does most of the mundane things like build farms. I takes the boring part of the game off the hand of the player.

This is different, However a coop AI certainly goes a long way to automatically scout and spot sneak attacks, which allow players to focus on more important things.

Wow, terrible. Why don't you just get the AI to play the game for you. You know, you can just go to youtube and watch games.
What could be more important than gathering intel on your enemy?
