  • EVA Database: The Command & Conquer Community Encyclopaedia

    #1

A Community Encyclopaedia for the Command & Conquer series

Estabilished in 2007, the EVA Database is a wiki-style website whose mission is to provide its users and visitors with a comprehensive encyclopedia on the Command & Conquer mythology, characters, factions, units, gameplay and all other subjects related to these landmark real-time strategy game series.

As of 2012, the EVA Database has more than 3 400 content pages, illustrated with over 5 000 images. During these five years, it has also provided the community with media and information once thought unavailable, such as the eponymous Command & Conquer Bible, the original Red Alert Soviet cutscene script and Tiberium cover concepts. Furthermore, the Database provides mirrors for popular source texts, for example, a digitized version of the Intelligence Database and copies of the now unavailable Tiberium Wars developer blogs.

    Other cool stuff

But that's not all. The Database also provides a Renegade 2 portal, a Tiberium portal, overviews for other cancelled Command & Conquer games and detailed galleries of concept art, eg. of Tiberium Wars grenadiers, Venoms, flame tanks and more.

    So, how can I help?

The EVA Database has always been a predominantly community project. Helping out is as simple as hitting the edit button at the top of the article page and writing in missing information or uploading an image that will complement the collection already present in the database.

If you want to provide more specific aid, consider joining the Refit and Revamp project to help revamp and streamline any articles that may require this treatment. Or browse the Wanted Pages list to find an article you can write.

I've been visiting the site every once in a while, definetly worth visiting for every C&C fan.

Been there a few times but haven't visited it lately. It's an okay site, but I feel sometimes it is slow on news.

The thing with the wiki is that can be unreliable sometimes - for example, when looking for the background infos of RA2's story, I found this page: http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Treaty_of_the_Atlantic_Sea
It totally sounds like some fanfiction, yet its presented as if was a canon part of the story.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It's hard to police 3400+ articles and remnants of the early days of the wiki will sometimes escape notice. That's why we're a community project: fans make for best peer reviewers (and why we add references where possible to source information).

Urgh, being a wiki that ANYONE can edit, I can see that this is quite difficult to control.

That's why I inhabit RecentChanges primarily and provide quality control daily. It's not that hard, primarily because most contributors truly want to help. Real trolls don't exist anymore.

Oh, but there was one a few years back. A real nutcase. The fact we're here and he's not should be telling

I've visited the EVA database quite some time back in the days, as I was very curious about the C&C lore. The wiki itself looks great, its very soothing to read for me. With the nice background and stuff

I remember that guy.. Made loads of accounts. He really hated you as well.

Anyway, I lurk on there sometimes, most of the time not logged in though. It's a great source of lore information I occasionally use.

I think we should expand the Eiki to include mods

Or you can just make a seperate wiki that is dedicated to the modding community.

Im pretty sure this wiki is for information for the main CnC games we have, and only for that purpose.

We do have some articles meant for mods (some data might be incorrect, though). Just to name a few...

                            http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Mental_Omega
                            http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Red_Alert:_A_Path_Beyond
                            http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Shock_Therapy_%28Mod%29
                            http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Command_an..._The_Forgotten

There are more. But, as Commander32 put it, it's mostly a wiki based on the actual games.
