  • The First Decade: Unofficial Patch 1.03 Released!

    #1
This patch is a MUST-HAVE for any C&C: The First Decade Owner!

    You can get it here

NathanCNC, with the help of other community members, has created an EPIC Patch 1.03 for The First Decade. This patch fixes many different bugs and adds a number of fixes to the game. Online play has been added to all of the classic titles such as Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert! You also no longer need the disc in the drive to play any of the games!

This patch includes EA’s official Patch 1.01 and Patch 1.02. If you already have these installed, the patch will recognize it, and only add the necessary Patch 1.03 changes.

This patch is unofficial, we cannot help with any specific Patch 1.03 issues, you are download this at your own risk. However, the patch has been used by hundreds of C&C community members, each reporting no errors with any Patch 1.03 specific changes. Thus, we felt the need to promote this at CommandandConquer.com!

Stand-out fixes include updating Red Alert to version 3.03, cleaned up video files to free up nearly a gig of hard drive space, and the integration of extra official Westwood maps from downloadable map packs. Online/LAN has also been fixed for Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, and Yuri’s Revenge. Manuals for all the games have been added with the patch, as well as registry entry fixes. This is just the beginning of all the additions the patch brings to the table!

To check out the full change list and download the patch, check out NathanCNC’s Unofficial Patch 1.03 website! You can also donate to him to help his efforts with the patch. His website contains full details on how to install the patch as well:

Remember if you are planning to play online XWIS with TFD 1:03, you need to either move the lan patch out of your game directory/remove the lan patch. The file is: wsock32.dll Common problems from having this file in your directory while on XWIS are; reconnection errors, games not starting, disconnections etc. You can also tell if someone has used the patch as game stats show at 0 FPS.

oamit you can safely install the patch with no worries. it's not an official patch but the people who created it were very careful about the fixes they made, the patch does only good to the game. so go ahead and install, it's allright :-)

Probably, but it might help to tell us which game you're talking about. TFD is about half a dozen different games, you know.

Also, there's a Common Problems thread you might want to check out.

                In the bloghttp://www.commandandconquer.com/en/blogs/blog/179 Posted by EA_CIRE, 19 Apr 2012
it says "If you’re using The First Decade to install Generals and or Zero:Hour, you need to install the The First Decade patch instead of the mentioned updates above – The First Decade installation files are already updated!"
Unfortunately, the link shown does not work. you just get "That blog entry does not exist"
                http://www.commandandconquer.com/en/.../TFD-102en.exe

So where can I get the TFD patch from?
Is this "unofficial" patch OK for patching TFD Generals and zero Hour?

                Thanks

Yep, this thingy solves a lot of problems with Generals, Zero Hour and TFD itself (even gets rid of 1.5 GB of useless data, as I hear!).

So use 1.03 instead of version 1.02. If you have 1.00, 1.01 or 1.02, you should be able to upgrade it with no problems.

All 1.03 adds to Generals/Zero Hour is no cd, which is very useful.

This link is a lie and tries to get you to download fake anti-virus software so you can clear the fake viruses out so it can give you real ones.

                      Crazy isn't it.

I'm surprised I almost fell for Phishing.

I take computer viruses off my computer manually.

Anti-virus software can even be dangerous these days.

Okay this link is just a way to get you to download a couple Trojan viruses.

The "You can get it here" link brings you to MediaFire the storage company for online users where you can download any data you want and spread it such as Malware.

I have a MediaFire account and yes I have used it to transport Malware. It's an easy way and I fell for it.

It brings you to a page that shows a code that you must type then you press "Authorize Download".

I had second thoughts but I wanted the patch so I typed it and clicked the authorization.

At that moment it shut all other things down except one window.

A window that looks like anti-virus and has two buttons.

One says close but doesnt work. The other says clear viruses.

I did not click it at all I just shut my computer down and unplugged the wifi.

I am glad that I don't have anti-virus software or I would have clicked "clear viruses" then it would open a backdoor in my system and viruses would have flooded in.

Having no anti-virus software made me wonder why anti-virus came up and it saved me from killing my computer.

Do not click this link for the patch because it downloads lies not patches.

Quick question is there a way to uninstall this patch ?

When playing Yuri's revenge over our lan - Ive found so far that the base build with the winsocks added has been more stable than with this patch added. Without patch we used to get someone disconnected from the game at random points unless the weakest computer hosted. So hosting with the weakest comp resloved most of that. However with this patch we now get a new error where everyone gets kicked and we all get the message "server connection lost" at some point in the game. Instead of just one person going down.

This occurs when a game has been in progress for 20+ minutes. Its random to us as some games have made it an hour before an error. So we can get rolling and all play just fine. The main problem is a network error at some point most games.

Without the patch it can be one player gettting lost. With the patch its a general everybody gets kicked at the same time.

I don't think there's any real way to uninstall the patch, except a clean reinstall of TFD. If you want to keep out certain parts of it, you're probably better off using my manual patching guide.

For anyone concerned about the C&C: The First Decade: Unofficial Patch 1.03 hosted at CNCNZ.com you have my word that the file is 100% safe, virus, malware and error free. I've downloaded, and tested it myself. Yes its true the download is hosted on MediaFire. So I've put together a short guide to explain how to download the file from our MediaFire mirror.

                              http://forums.cncnz.com/topic/17034-...fficial-patch/

That link also explains why the download was moved to MediaFire.
