  • Steam version of RA3 problem.

    #1
I have obtained RA3 and Uprising expansion during the weekend sale a couple of weeks ago. I have played through the campaigns and I wanted to play with people online. However, when I do so the following events occur:
    1. I log on to my account...
    2. It asks to accept the agreement. So I accept.
    3. It loads for a little bit...
    4. Then It says I can't connect to EA Online.

Has anyone had this problem, solved it and can help me? PLEASE?

It sounds like a firewall issue, or ports are being blocked somewhere.

What antivirus program do you have?
Are you at home with your internet?
    Do you have a router/modem/switch/etc?
Do you have a dedicated firewall program?

Post all those up and I'm sure someone will have some ideas

      I am using F-Secure.
      Home internet.
      Router and Modem
      Nope, just F-Secure.

I am also playing it via on an External but I doubt it is that because my other games work as well.

Bad company 2 has a connectivity issue with AVG and F-secure which resulted in frequent disconnection from the EA master server.I was using AVG at that time and what fixed the disconnection for me was to turn off completely the Resident Shield (putting the game on exceptions did no good). Since both ra3 and bc2 use the EA master server for you to log in im guessing the problem would be the same.

Find something similar to the AVG Resident Shield to disable and it should fix your connectivity problems. Try to completely disable it at some point and see if that is the issue anyway.

use this thread to check that you have opened your modem/router ports.

I am also playing BC2 with problems too. Ill try your solutions. Ill get back as soon as possible.

            EDIT: No go...
To be more specific, I am suing COGECO Security Services.
I tried opening the ports mentioned from the linked thread but nothing.

As for in Bad Company 2, I enter the game, log in, get in a server, play for 5 mins or so, then lose connection.
            Did I do something wrong?
            Any other ideas?

Have a look in the settings and see if you can disable the firewall.

This will isolate whether that is the cause of the issue.

If you have the problem with bad company 2 where everything freezes ingame except you and after 2 minutes you get the error "You have lost connection to the server", disable your UPnP on your router settings.

I have talked with my relatives and we have agreed to swap the Anti-Virus programs to allow me to play. I'll let you know if it works again.

Alright, we switched to Windows Defender but still nothing.
Oh, and here is a picture of me losing connection to EA on BC2.

This message is not losing connection from a server so i guess UPnP and AVG has nothing to do with it.

Are you using a linksys router by the way?
