  • Please insert the correct CD error/4001 error (How do I update SecuROM?)

    I am currently having troubles starting Kanes Wrath. Whenever I attempt to run the game I get one of the following error messages: 'Please insert the original Kane's Wrath CD' or 'Please insert the Original Disk, not a back up (4001)'. The 'Having Trouble?' thread shows this as a known issue and suggest updating the SecuROM file for the game; however, the link that it provides takes me to the EA support page and offers no details whatsoever on how to update said file. Does anyone know how I can update this file or any other way to get around this problem that doesn't involve uninstalling my virtual drives?

    Currently i have the same error, I have the game i have the key installed both game and addon and it will not accept my dvd as an original. please help.

      I don't think you'll have to uninstall your virtual drives. Unmount your images first. Then open task manager (XP: Run "task manager" I think, if not just google how to use task manager in XP. Win 7/Vista: search "task manager"), select processes and "end task" on any task related to virtual drives.

      I think that should do the trick.
