Actually there is a stand-alone mod that makes CnC Generals FPS
It uses the W3D Engine, so the feeling will be very similar to Renegade.

Considering Generals 2 will feature the Frostbite 2 engine, do you think the multiplayer will function like Battlefield 3? Not having an in-game server browser could be a major letdown to many CnC...
