Idea for VG to incorporate the fanbase

Remeber the "name the game" and "name the unit" contests from the development of T_T?
If the guys at EA were prepared to go that far, why would VG not try to use the large modding/artist community the C&C games has gathered with a "make the unit" contest. There are loads of good mods for C&C out there, and I think the modders could make a great addition to our arsenals.

Legal issues. If someone makes something, he has some rights to it, depending on the country he's from these can go pretty far. EA would have to contract every single one contributing to the game and the end result would probably be an unbearable mashup of styles, universes and quality.

Leave the modders to where they belong. Modding is great because it expands and upgrades in an open environment. Going for "the industry" is totally different to that and should be reserved for those that developers deem a good addition to their team - for example, Mastermind was recruited by EA some years ago.

Perhaps a "write a unit-profile for this unit" contest would be fun.

If you're reading this you probably haven't got anything better to do anyway.

This. Cypher can't have all the fun.

I would have to agree, but I am sure they can find other ways to get the community involved with unit profiling.

I think EA needs to get its lore together though before anyone starts writing stories and profiles. Everything is too scattered right now.

I was thinking about a Idris unit in a tib universe game, to replace the mutants (who should become playable), as they don't have a set style yet

You mean a prophet for the mutants other than Kane?

I kinda thought Tratos being killed removed that possibility....but another prophet will be interesting. To say the least.

since EA will probably not retcon T_T, I think the forgotten will be pretty angry at GDI for removing the tiberium they need to live

    They have to retcon it!

They will, no, have to retcon it. They must.

I kinda hope they do have some stuff like the Forgotten Shortbus, and I thought GST Methuselah was pretty cool too, coincidence or not (since I wasn't around with the fail of T_T)
