Graphics \ Image of the game

    Subject:
Appropriate graphics\ Image of the game

    Description:
What I've noticed that there was a lot of people disappointed with the cartoonish graphics of the C&C Red Alert 3 and C&C4 Tiberian Twilight (as myself, too) ,so I suggest that C&C should stay with more serious graphics like it was in C&C 3. I also suggest proper scaling for units since it looks distracting when you can see infantry 3 times taller than a tank.

    Positive Effect:
This would impress people at first glance, what might lead them to buy the game.
Also it might bring back fans of C&C3 who were disappointed with the RA3 and C&C4 looks.

    Negative Effect:
I think this would disappoint fans of RA3 and C&C4 cartoonish graphics.

    here are some images:

Agree with this wholeheartedly. I did not like the look of units in either RA3 or C&C4

I'm just worried all infantry units will turn into giant hulking armored personnel.
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

GDI should be moving towards Zone Armor as their mainline as lore wise it makes sense given the Tiberium enviornment.

However, depending on the game I'd suggest taking some cues from Tiberian Sun's higher-res animations, those really had a feel that I liked. Obviously you can't take all of it as lore-wise tech has advanced a lot, but cues aren't a bad idea. For example, Zone Armor could take a bit more of an appearance to older armor or maybe GDI starts using Disc Throwers again, just in powered armor.

As for Nod, cyborgs are probably their mainstay, but introducing non-cyborg Nod units using armor akin to the older stuff isn't bad. Or, barring that, have Nod seperatists (if any survived the events of C&C4) use older gear as to make them a clear difference from modern Nod.

I don't know, I don't like zone armor, but maybe as a tier 3 infantry, but certainly not all of them...or maybe make Steel talons and Regular GDI with normal infantry and ZOCOM with just infantry in Zone Armor because they are working in that kind of enviroment... and same with cyborgs, perhaps Regular Nod and Black Hands with just normal infantry and Marked of Kane entirely of Cyborgs?.... I would be happy if all of the infantry would look like in Tiberium concepts, kinda armored but still looking agile. What do you think?

I agree on having realistic unit/structure designs and not the cartoony style that has been going on lately and I would also like them to not use as much bloom as they have used.

That said, TW had a lot of cartoony designs in its own right IMO...I'll never forget the first time I saw that Scorpion tank...ugh.

Whilst I see what they were going for, I don't think they are spending enough time. For example TT idea was actually very good from a perspective. the whole atmosphere of the art direction is rather a retro-scifi look, the color direction is always stylistic and filtered, designs like kodiak and ever-present grain filter really do emphasize on it, but that does not mean the designs need to look childish nor rushed.

Imo those shots look quite amazing and clearly show the people working on it had talent, especially considering they didn't have that much time to work on it, but as a whole the thing falls apart so hard because of the many mistakes and rushed feel.

The art style should depend on the setting. An over-the-top setting like RA3 does well with cartoony looks which also allow greater flexibility in shaping looks toward usability. In contrast, Tib always had a dark, serious universe to it, so having a cartoony look feels out of place here.
Scaling falls into the same category, while realistic scaling works fine, a cartoony game can opt for less realistic scaling to for example make infantry more noticeable.

In general, it would be nice if the Art style actually integrated into the gameplay. For example, a stealthy unit could indeed have a hard to see look to it (camouflage adjusted to terrain color, chameleon style), so they can slip past unfocused enemy players.
