    Subject:
    HERO UNITS

Make rts games more fun xD!!

    Description:
Hero units like in lortbfme2 or the original kingdom under fire games or even dota with unique levels and abilities that you can learn by gaining experience points throughout the game but at the start of each game the experience is reset to 0

    Positive Effect:
Adds an extra layer of tactics and can really sway a fight due to their abilities and toughness

    Negative Effect:
Im not sure, i guess it could add a learning curve to the game but thats where a lot of the fun is in rts games

No, just no.C&C should stay a pure RTS with no (RPG)hero elements, I would not like to see hero or super units in the normal game.Only in custom made maps and missions would be fine. For heroes you have the Warhammer,LotR and Warcraft series.
It just doesn't fit in the C&C universe and hero/super units in general are hard to balance, because they will usually either play a very important role in the gameplay, meaning a lot of the game will revolve around them (see Warcraft III) or they will be gimmicky and useless, making them an unnecessary addition.

Learn from Starcraft 2,get the good elements and apply the C&C flavour.

We already have Hero units in C&C, they are just called Commandos.

Make Commandos useful like they were in RA 3, but give them MORE ABILITIES. RA 3 was fun but it got boring when everyone only had 1 ability.

Commando with 4 abilities would be epic, C-4 as 1, smoke bomb, ability to build sandbag barriers, mines. And so on...

An enemy Commando in the battlefield should be dangerous, not something you spawn a Buzzer Swarm on to get free kill.

Commandos in C&C games are not heroes in the sense that they level up or have a great impact on the game, they are special tactical units, which is fine.

indeed, the commando units should be of great strategic use on the field, but no wc3 hero type junkz plz.

generals IMO had it best, each of the hero units are useful in a way.

I think DoW 2 style for heroes with wargear and special skills would be great, it was an excellent feature which allowed a lot of tactical insight, also they can always add their own personality and traits to the campaign story, would be great.
Live well. It is the greatest revenge... And be the salt and light of Earth.

Heros already exist in C&C, they're called commandos. Furthermore, they already can level up, it's called veterancy. Not sure about wargear and such. Maybe, but I'm not sold on the idea just yet. Maybe give them a few more abilities, I suppose I'm not against the idea in itself... but you can't make them either too powerful or too detailed. They're not the point of the game, they're just a tough infantrywoman. I think the biggest issue is balance between them.
In Red Alert 3, Yuriko just owned Natasa and Tanya. And Tanya wasn't good enough in many ways. She had to be used very, very cleverly. I know Yurioko required good micro juggling sklls, but she seemed more boss-like.

I guess this is the best way to incorporate 'HEROES' in the game

Would be cool to see a GDI commando looking like a half Zone Trooper half Space Marine

I wouldn't mind a few as campaign 'hero' units for mission purposes, but otherwise this has really limited value and we already have commandos. Maybe expanding commando types a little wouldn't be a bad idea, but TBH C&C's method ain't broke
