noodlesocks, don't they have this in Tom Clancy's Endwar what is even bigger scale than most of the C&C ??? .... and perhaps give them toggle ability : use the closest cover next to waypoint there were send to, or just go where the order was and don't find cover (hope makes sense, kinda hard to explain)
....this mean you won't have to do it by yourself

me neither, but I'm just saying what I've seen on youtube (it's dumb, I know) .......and would it be ok for you if infantry would look for cover by themselves?

if by cover you mean like in C&C 3 where they hug buildings and such then I don't care. I just don't want to see hundreds of walls and fences and bushes lying all over the place. That would suck for base building.

Though I would add that I would love to see forest areas be infantry only and not be something tanks can just roll through without a problem :|

hug buildings? I'm not sure what you're talking about, infantry in C&C3 didn't use any cover... and I'd like to see walls and fences and bushes.. but perhaps when you build a building it would just level the obstacles and build a building there anyway? ....
And yeah, forest should remain for infantry...

In my opinion, the whole game should be that infantry will be the most important unit in the game ........and vehicles and aircrafts should be very expensive and powerful but still not be able to win the whole game by themselves... I'd also like to see that when you destroy a building the ruins would remain there and you would need to send infantry in to clean the rest of personnel who might have survived the destruction ( there's always someone who survives).... just like normal battlefield (except base building)

in C&C 3, infantry units would automatically find cover near buildings.

And even if placing a building would get rid of the walls and fences, they're still going to be there around your base and your units are still going to have to navigate around them. Having lots of crap littered around the map works in company of heroes and dow 2 because the only thing you can build out in the field are defences.

I don't remember that and I've played that game a lot... was that also in KW? I can't believe I haven't noticed that...

And come on!... infantry can climb over the most of the obstacles ( little walls ,sandbags, trenches shouldn't be a problem) and tanks shouldn't have that problem too. ....I know that light vehicles might have a little problem with some obstacles ... and can't it be that engineers would be able to remove obstacles? or dozers? or land leveling for construction yard? ... if they can build a building from the ground they can level and remove obstacles, ain't?

P.S don't be so negative! it can work the way you would like that

Because Generals is modern, and I think a cover system would fit really well into a game like that.

    How did you do that?

Also I have to agree with Noodlesocks, it would make C&C decidedly complicated. If so, all infantry would need to be scripted for every obstacle and how they can take cover.

And I personally think we should not just copy ideas from other games, so if this was in C&C, how would this be different?

Maybe just a "Cover Stance" which has the unit increase defense and decrease accuracy? that may be more effective.

    But still........
