Lightbulb upgrades players can choose what to give to each unit instead of C&C'3 way

Subject: upgrades players can choose what to give to each of their unit instead of all the units in the C&C'3 way

    Description:
from C&C3 that the 3 factions gets the kind of upgrades that each are for to be givin to few type and every single of them units at the same time and can not change their mind once its done.

like for Example the rail gun upgrade for GDI when finished researched all the mammoth tanks and predator tanks gets it at the same time.

The Nods avator gets upgrades in different and another way other than buying them from Tech lab is by letting the players decide on what to give to Each of their avators.

    Positive Effect:
As an idea by giving all the units on all the factions upgrades in a different way by clicking on each or high light on many UNITS as you want and decide what upgrade you want them to have that when seeing what units your enemy has youll choose the upgrade that can help make them be bit more Anti against on what youll be up against.

Like for example If i build lots of Mammoth tanks and when i see that my enemy has been building nothing but air units, ill be at disadvantage, with the upgrade choices only 1 i can chose to give to my mammoth tanks like as in the list

    1 extra rocket pod
    rail guns
    EMP proof armour

with extra rocket pod upgrade they can atleast fight bit better against air units while then they cant have anymore upgrades for only the ones i chosed.
Then when my enemy change stradigy to attack my mammoth tanks with anti tank teir 3 units and all have upgrade that makes them more powerful aginst tanks i would retreat my mammoth tanks the ones with the rocket pod upgrade back to base, Send new ones and upgrade them with rail guns to fight better.

With every unit have more than 1 upgrade and only 1 can be givin to the ones you chose.

I like idea, however, it would through many wrenches into balance,
The point of a mammoth is to be good anto vehicle, if you could make that good AA, then that makes countering rather difficult.

If you build a bunch of mammoths and, they got vertigos, that's your lot. I don't agree with making those mammoths good vs. those verts.

But i like unit per unit upgrade, giving more variation and allows for more diverse upgrades.

LOL I made the same post one hour ago, but it didn't show on the forum back then.

    It says---

    Subject:
    Individual upgrades

    Description:
Another suggestion to make players care about their units more, instead of the traditional global upgrades that especially facilitated spamming for C&C, we can resort to the BFME style upgrade that units must purchase them individually after researching.

First, this will expand the strategy element to the realm of upgrades – the resources are to be spent on quantity or quality?

Second, with individual upgrades the game can finally feature the downside of upgrades, as “there is no free lunch”, some upgrades have side effects. For example a new AP shell can increase the tank’s anti-vehicle capability, but slightly weaken others; a coaxial MG provides anti-infantry but slightly decrease RoF of main gun; an armor upgrade may reduce speed.

Third, such upgrade options could turn one unit type into “several”, so the game will have much more stuff to delve into, even with the same group of tanks, player can use them with very different tactics in lategame.

    Positive Effect:
More realistic, perhaps require them to be within base area to upgrade
The 3 points listed above: cash management + brand new effect + increase depth
Fits C&C’s style of many high tech toys

    Negative Effect:
    Cost more
You no longer that easily to get a screenful of Railgun Mammoths
A little but controllable balance inpact, what I afraid the most is a fully upgrade unit in heroic status will be OP, opponents may eventually rely back to hard counter. (not necessarily if the cost is well adjusted.)

Something similar was in Generals, too. China featured unit-bound upgrades for the Overlord and Helix, allowing you to add either a gattlings, bunker or propaganda tower.

I'd really like to see this on bigger units, like Mammoths or Tripods. Smaller units might work too, but only if the unit numbers are relatively low (Generals style). Otherwise, it gets too tedious having to check dozens of units for what upgrade they are using.

This exact video was probably inspired in C&C 4, as offense units going over crates will get upgraded in a similar fashion.
But having this to every single unit? That sounds a bit hars...
If you upgrade your whole army then at least give you the ability to upgrade all of them at the same time.

And this reminds me of Generals indeed, like USA could individually upgrade their tanks with the machinegun drone, rocketdrone or repairdrone?
But you could also select all 8 tanks and upgrade all of them into machinegun drone and so on...
And as for the Overlord, it could be altered too.

And I think this is also in CoH, where tanks for example can be upgraded in the battlefield to have a machinegun turret attached to it...

It would make the game a lot more cluttered so I would support this only if the unit numbers are lower than in CnC3 that is Generals or RA3 style.

too confusing for me, if i have to upgrade unit by unit and to recognise which upgrades an attacking enemy has. I would prefer an global upgrade maybe with an upgrade tree similarly to generals points.
