Thread: Disk ?

  1. #1

    Disk ?

I installed the freeware RA1 and it works fine. The only problem is that I have to put the cd in the drive to play. If I mount it I get no skirmish music. I have the 3.03 patch installed. But is there anything I can do to play without the disk ?

i seem to be having the same problems... however in skirmish i noticed too that i couldnt hear any music... however i realised thats because in options for some reason the music volume had been turned off, you simply just have to turn it back up through the red alert options menu

still cant figure how to play the free ware without a disk myself tbh :/

There's no no-cd support on the freeware version, since it's just a distribution of the original CDs. And yes, both C&C and RA1 have its music disabled in multiplayer (one of the things I fixed in C&C95 with my patch). This was done because the slow CD-ROMs of that age could cause desync problems when reading while playing.

Since Skirmish is technically just multiplayer against an AI, that same logic is applied to it.
