Sure there may be hackers, but doesn't every game have them. Maybe with this game we will have a better moderator system where it will track if there are any cheaters/hackers.

You can't really track offline cheating. If there is a combined profile for MP and SP, the most reliable cheat protection is simply constant monitoring of the game process, or better yet having it hosted entirely on an official dedicated server.
A compromise could be a "closed/open profile" system as many older RPGs have used, e.g. in Diablo II a "closed profile" was for online games only, whereas an "open profile" could be played without requiring an internet connection. Only the "closed profile" was listed in rankings, however. I guess most of the people that mind the internet requirement (including me) don't bother with rankings anyways.
You mean cheat/non-cheat characters if you're talking about D2? :P
Please EA, look to Warcraft 3 as a prime example of a game that works well without any kind of DRM. Sure, it started off with some basic form of SecuROM and disk check, but eventually those were only required for online play. And the game was still a HUGE success and the custom maps are more popular than the actual game these days.
People who buy the game shouldn't be burdened with the extra DRM to keep your games secure, we should be rewarded for paying money to buy the game. Let the pirates play the game offline, but have a cd-key check or origin account required for multiplayer play. The pirates will only be able to enjoy a small portion of the game.
No internet connection, no GFWL, no Origin requirement please, just a simple cd-key will be fine, companies have been spending valuable resources to get anti-piracy defensive systems just to get fooled by pirates every single time, besides, if the game is good enough people will buy it.
Live well. It is the greatest revenge... And be the salt and light of Earth.

Let me just drop in to say I support the removal of this feature in the game. I liked Red Alert 3's way of doing it. You had to be connected once to register the key and that was it. A onetime connection was required and it couldn't be used for someone else, you get the best of both versions like that. You must be online to register it and once that is done you can play the game offline. The way it was done in C&C4 was an unnecessary measure to stop pirates in my opinion. But, it's also possible that was required simply for how that game played and progressed. In which case that's true the next game won't need it. But, I would like to point out for just about every person I saw that liked it there must've been at least 10 that didn't. I hope this is thought through by the developers making the next C&C game.
EDIT: Sadly what happens in the end is that those with the legal copy have to go through all the trouble caused by this measure while those with pirated versions play without it. I've seen ALOT of Steam games pirated, it hurts the customers MORE than those that pirate the game.

I agree with you,Zocom. While I think browsers such as Steam are convenient,I would like to be able to buy the game from a shelf in a store as well.I take some joy in that that is unexplainable.
As for the serial numbers,I think we should get rid of them.Civilization games do just fine without them.I don't see the point in them, and to me they are simply a waste of time. Also, serial numbers can be lost or thrown away on accident (I accidentally threw away the serial numbers for my Battle for Middle Earth 2 games...$^%#es me off so much...).
There appears,as I said,to be no logical reason to have serial numbers,so I think that they should not be a part of games...at all.(Though I would like to know why games have serial numbers.Do reply to this reply if you have an answer(not to change the subject).
