    Divination

I know Nod's Divination research was meant to create the perfect tiberium mutated human, and evolve humanity into a perfect tiberium-based race. But besides the WAM Kane tried to launch, what were actual products of Divination research? The earlier Project Regenesis resulted in three types of mutants as well as two specific cases, but did Divination yield similar results. I think Nod's mutant hijacker may be a result of the Divination project, but since I only remember seeing it in multiplayer and skirmish as a Nod unit and it appearing as a unique Forgotten unit in campaign, I'm unsure if the NOD mutant hijacker is even canaon. Also, what did Kane do/try to do to Umagon when he captured her?

I too fail to understand why one minute Kane is encouraging Tiberium Growth and the next minute he's trying to stop it.

An arguement could be that he was trying to get it to a very serious situation so he could step in and become the "saviour" of humanity, but that doesn't explain why he embraced Tiberium like he did...

Because they wanted to bring the aliens into the fold and couldn't get around to writing what they felt was a realistic war story (Westwood said there would be a paradigm shift in C&C3, EA just didn't like how it went from realistic war story to sci-fi) with what they had in Tiberian Sun and where things were seemingly going. They thought that after 7 years, many fans moved on and the kind of success that was needed for the game to make its money, with a good amount of profit and warrant for a potential sequel would require to sell MUCH more copies. So they rewrote the story to make it more down-to-earth and so that the average Joe can join in without feeling disconnected from the sci-fi setting of the game.

They wanted a game that would succeed like Generals and felt that the setting of TS would alienate many players simply because of the art direction and how everything looked dark, futuristic, ominous and what not. They basically wanted to have a success story that everyone could connect with, not a Dead Space or Red Faction kind of game, that could sell only to the hardcore franchise fans.

It was basically a step in the wrong direction, I think, but TW had still enough elements left from TS, whereas TT felt completely disconnected, and if it weren't for the return of most classic C&C units, it wouldn't even have allowed fans to connect to the game.

Watch EA reason that the reason C&C4 failed was because of the Tiberian story and the sci-fi elements, and not the gameplay mechanics and the fact they alienated all their fans and pretty much ret-conned the original plot and storyline of the series. Anyways, I'll end this here, before I stray too far off the topic at hand.

EDIT: Cypher, Golan, I love you guys! Your posts are amazing. I'm glad to see there are fans out there who properly understood the C&C saga and the character motivations. Those first games had depth and were thought-out, compared to the new ones. The only deep thinking they did here was in regards to the industry and profit margin, not the actual game franchise and the character motivations in the games.

That didn't really answer my question at all. You only said something about Tiberian Twilight's storyline which I have no wish to get into here.

Divination and Project Regenesis are two parts of the same goal.

Project Regensis began the aggressive testing in mutations, while Divination is just a myth spread by Nod so that people accept the mutations as something good, instead of evil.

Kane's goal, obviously, was to create a strain of humans that could withstand the Tiberium world - and for that, he needed humanity to embrace the inevitable.

So there were no actual in-game porducts of the Divination project? As in no Nod infantry that became advanced artificially created mutants.

Divination is more like a propaganda term than a project name. Ghost Stalker and Mutant Hijacker are supposedly 2 certain heroes from the Forgotten faction, but somehow they split to join the two sides, in campaign they are always friends, I think it's of skirmish concern so each side has 2 super units.

In CCR Kane asked the mutated Patrova "How does it feel, to be divine?", this may have implied Divination and the effects of Project Regenesis are pretty much the same thing.

Kane injected Umagon some catalyst to accelerate her mutation, that could be inferred from the line "while you still have human eyes", and later in the FS opening her status lost control.

Besides, I think later a new word "Ascension" was introduced to keep the people fooled, they shared something similar, though this time it's more meant for the normal people instead of the mutated, it kidda changed the whole purpose and ideology of Kane and the Brotherhood, especially when at the end of TT it revealed to be mere an escape plan... However the Tiberium Infusion upgrade for foot soldiers could be see as one of the fruits from previous researches.

So if Divination is just propaganda to make people think Tiberium mutation is mankind's destiny, why was Nod seemingly anti-forgotten in the TS Nod campaign? Oxanna (or however it's spelled) said "mutants" in a very resentful way, and Cabal even called Umagon "the abomination."

That's the essence of propaganda lol, to tell what you want people to believe, not what you really believe. You can see the difference when Oxanna in on TV to persuade mutants to take on GDI.

After all, mutant are kinda the failed product of Nod's human bio experiments.
