Subject:
Give a place to the different sub-faction and give them, for example :
-a place in the campaign
-completely unbalanced between the different strategies => each one complete the other

Description:
I explain my two proposition because re-add the sub-factions is, I think, clear :
  • a place in the campaign :
I think that, as sub-faction are really important in skirmish, they should be important in the story.
For example, in the story, one of the sub-faction create incredible technologies witch influence the war, an other on is only controlled for "commandos missions" (By commandos missions, I mean missions like Tiberian Sun's missions were you were you have just a few units to manage between).
Also, it could be great if you can chose it in campaign : I am doing XXX Faction's campaign, mission XX, will I choose the main faction or one of the sub-faction ?
  • By completely unbalanced, I don't mean invincible or something like that. For example, if we take 3 sub-factions peer faction like in general, we can had :
-the main faction : general-purpose, not good for something particular.
-a commando sub-faction : elite infantry, advanced weapons, less heavy vehicles and turrets...
-a defensive sub-faction : less powerful units, but really dangerous when defending a position...
-a support sub-faction : more powerful units with a longer range but a really expensive cost (=> smaller army), no or less advanced infantry...

=> To resume, I suggest something like in the first time of C&C General, but with the C&C4's dependence from a sub-faction to each other (but in a soft version)

Positive Effect:

Enforce the need of colaboration between players without being in the same excess than C&C4 :
  1. you can use all type of units (infantry, tank, aircraft, buildings) and all strategies with all factions, but you will be more efficient if you use the faction/sub-faction 's specific strategy.
  2. You need a common strategy, you can't simply say to you allies "attack here, you need a plan.
If I continue with my three sub-factions, a strategy could be :
-commandos prevent the enemy to be organized.
-defensive defend the base and the captured terrain
-support give support (of course) and also use his powerfull but rare (too expansive) units to destroy the most critical enemies buildings (central, factories, super-weapon)
-In campaign : oblige the player to choose the most adapted army (the faction or a sub-faction).

Negative Effect:
It might be hard to balance :
Will these army's strong points o exactly compensate his weak points, or will the faction being advantage or disadvantaged compared to others factions ?
-In campaign : oblige the player to choose the most adapted army (the faction or a sub-faction), while a player might want to play only with it's favorite faction => it might be necessary to make ALL sub-faction theoretically able to win ALL campaign's missions : might be hard to balance.

This is a picture from the previous versions C&C General's (This was removed just before the BETA) witch show the sub-faction's choice control bar :

The picture is from C&C Saga

I am perhaps quite confused in my explication... If you don't understand something in my proposition, ask-me, I will try to be clearer.
