That could be caused by several reasons to do with your computer and you did not give any details about your computer. Have you made sure your computer has all the latest software hardware updates. I'll take a rough guess in that you might be running Windows 7 where there has been scattering reports of crashes on start up or hanging black screen. If so then have a read here at EA Customer Support for a solution.

Yes, checked to see if I had all the latest updates on drivers and everything, I am indeed running Windows 7, and had already changed the compatibility over to vista. still nothing.

OK then now let us know what you have and maybe others and myself might be able to spot something.
Can you post your dxdiag and here is how:

    * Hold the Windows button on your Keyboard and press the "R" key.
    * In the box, type the following: DXDIAG, then click OK.
    * The Dxdiag program should appear. Click on the Save All Information button.
    * Save the file somewhere easy to remember like your Desktop.
    * Open the dxdiag text file and copy (only) the following sections into your post:
    --- System Information
    --- DxDiag Notes
    --- Display Devices
    --- Sound Devices

I'm having the same exact issue, I just purchased the game and I get a black screen after attempting to run it through Steam. I've tried enabling Vista (no service pack) compatibility with no luck. I've Googled the problem and it seems that it is a problem due to having a dual monitor setup and unplugging one of the monitors is the solution (which is absolutely ridiculous, I knew EA was terrible but not THAT terrible!)

I couldn't spot anything there but maybe another person here might, but really I think it looks like its best to refer to EA Support. Use this link and then click on the link "Contact Us", and when you contact them include all the information you have including the DXDIAG.
    http://support.ea.com/

As the Vista setting did not fix the problem then you may as well set it back to where it was originally. Many others including myself use Windows 7 64bit with no problem and with no vista set, it was just a try as it appears to have solved some peoples problem, as EA mentioned scattered reports.

I wonder if there maybe something with your antivirus program and firewall, there are different programs as you know and in the past I have seen a few odd effects with games. Check to see to see if the game is NOT being blocked and can access the internet.

    i just bought as well

i just got it and i have internet connection but the game will not allow me to play im confused i bought the game brand new i am running windows 7 i get the loging screen in the game after loading it up initial video loads and plays fine minimal to no lag but i log in (for the second-5th time) and still shows me a little pop up in game saying no connection to my internet i go back disconnected and reconnected to my internet continually my internet is fine but will not allow me to play

im very unhappy with these issues if anyone can help me plz post here im favoriting will continue to try and fix problem on my own

  9. #9
ok as for the video issues, i encounter that from time to time as well. i dunno if its xfire causing it or not, but i found pressing ALT+TAB then going to the icon on the bar at the bottom to load it back up seems to give me the picture back. unknown cause but they may help. also i see no one is saying they run as admin... might be worth ticking. gauntlet as your issue is not graphics related but instead connection related i thought i would offer you the chance to start a thread pertaining to that as we will focus on the graphic issues here
