You clearly have never played a real generals match then, its a true RTS where you actually need to use strategy and tactics

Subfactions give ZH some uniqueness, but it's impossible to balance a game when you have 9 different armies, so in the end have 3 armies is much better.

Are you kidding me? You want to talk about Real RTS? Tiberian Sun took way more strategy than Generals where people just sit back and let artillery do all the work. How about Starcraft where you only have a limited amount of units at one time which forces you to analyze your opponents moves and counter them with minimal losses to your own forces!? No I haven't played a "real" generals match with only 90 different kinds of units that basically do the same thing in different ways if I wanted that I would've played C&C4......
Generals 2? Yeah its about damn time

I've never even seen that :| Don't think it would work either really. If it is the support power you only get it once every 6 minutes which doesn't do enough to get you the win at all and the units are fragile and easily taken out with aircraft or fast ground units.

Yeah but they always protect the artillery with a large enough force to actually invade so they could use all the units to try to defeat you but instead they just stay in rows protecting the cannons.
