Some people prefer SP, others MP. You have to cater to both to make a genuinely good game.
SP in RTS is slowly getting absorbed by MP Co-Op mode. Why not go with the time?

Also, did you know that the SP players of C&C screwed over the MP players again and again? If you did not know that then I can understand that you would/could think MP people are crazy whiners etc. However, now you know why.

Yet again, this entirely is up to the game type. On RPG the story is always needed since you play a role in the story. In FPS it's partly needed, good to have some background info etc. In RTS games it is not necessary, you usually need to do things that do not add anything into MP mode which make it nearly useless, a waste of coding time.

Coolness's idea would simply be a perfect solution, if it could be made easily. It could make story and real gameplay go into one, then both parties can directly be happy.

No thank you. The quality of a game can not be judged by people who only care about one part of the game. You need people who care about the entire thing.
Book, movie, RPG game, name it all, they are simply not RTS games. The story is indeed a part of the game, but maybe only a maximum of 2%, if not less. Why waste the most time on a small part of a game? As I said SP gets the most time, which I mean to say that the time spend on SP could be reduced and added up to MP. SP is played by more people than MP, however, MP is played many more hours than SP is.

Keeping MP alive is the key to get a successful game, a successful game will mean that more people would buy a new title from that same developer.

That you want a story, I can get in. It's normal for a game. However, you could also be less greedy about having a whole movie game and give other people some MP fun as well. MP fun as in getting a better balanced game and better maps etc.

I'm telling you guys, World in Conflict is one of the few RTS games I know of that managed to do Multiplayer really well, yet also have an amazing story. Just check it out.

    WiC is an RTT

And i'm going to have to say Red Alert 2 had the better plot twists because with TW you always see that **** coming from a mile away. As for the FS/YR I really don't remember the FS soundtrack so YR it is because it stuck with me. You have to understand that alot of people buy these games just for kicks whether its SP, MP, or just buying it to throw it at a wall. (like C&C4)
Generals 2? Yeah its about damn time

I got the game digitally, so there was no throwing it... Not throwing my computer, no way no how.

I am not being greedy, all I've ever said is that both MP and SP are important, especially in Command and Conquer. Like it or not, but the story has always been an important aspect of the CnC games. Just because it's an RTS instead of another kind of medium doesn't mean that the story is suddenly not important. For you personally it may be only 2% of the experience, but for others it's 50%, for some even 100%. You need to understand that the order in which you find things important in an RTS is not the same as everybody elses. Besides, it seems that most of the problems you're having about the MP have to do with the lack of post-lauch support, in which I fully agree with you there needs to be a lot more. But that does not need to take time away from creating the SP experience at all.

You should see the youtube videos, copies of the game have been burned, shot at, and even attacked with a freaking samurai sword.

Hang on I'll see if I can find them

    Edit:

And this is why reselling games must remain viable... What a waste of money.
