I remember seeing a Wolverine/Missile squad rush on YouTube, but if you let him tech up to Purifiers, that won't work as well.
"Dat vallen streckt tot eer, en onverwelckbren lof:
En liever d’ eerste Vorst in eenigh laeger hof,
Dan in ’t gezalight licht de tweede, of noch een minder
Zoo troost ick my de kans, en vrees nu leet noch hinder."

i found the best tactic to GUARANTEE a win when playing a friend over lan is to carefully mass an attack force and use that as a disraction while you unplug their mouse and keyboard. it is GUARANTEED to work. ****

well there are many ways to counter an attack. one i use often to counter rushers is to quickly make a small army. hide them, and then once they attack my base i attack theirs. they usually retreat to defend their base and once they do, depending on the amount of units you sent you have the time to make a quick defence.

Steel Talons is more for advanced players. Let's say it takes more work to win with Steel Talons than with vGDI and ZOCOM.

What you want to do is scout and see what your friend is doing so you can make units that counter his units or plan. Try to control the map by sending multiple scouts and garrisoning them in the buildings at several routes.
Try to harass his harvesters to cripple his economy. Also use surprise attacks. For example send in a Titan from the back while you attack from the main front.
Know your Steel Talons units and powers well, of what they can do and cannot. And of course micro-manage your units on the field well so you keep your losses at a minimum while your opponent takes heavy losses.

    This.

And get railguns and adaptive armour. Rail Gun Accelerators can be the only saving grace you have against a massive Black Hand charge. Trigger adaptive armour when your units start taking too much damage, it increases your units hitpoints. You still get a ROF bonus, the damage from RGA is reduced, and your more heavily damaged units can absorb a few more shots before they go down.

Also, invest in some air power. Use Firehawks to detech and harass him as long as you can. Make him stop building Purifiers and Obelisks, and force him to build AA. That will give you time to get a few more Behemoths and Mammoths onto the battlefield.
