Hi, I had the same problem. If your serial is legal and everything, I found this works. First, if you are on windows 7, there is a seperate issue with the game starting. I don't think that is your problem. This solution is for 64 bit systems only, I think.

On my computer, I just exported the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts and then imported it. After that the game worked again. I don't know how it works, but I was so happy that it did again.

This fix requires you to use regedit, but that is not difficult, just be careful you don't ruin your computer..
