Back on topic, there is core problem with C&C4 music, like all the other elements, it's completly out of place, ok, when listened separately from the game it sounds nice, even great, but ingame, well:

    Do you see and listen?

It simply has nothing to do with C&C, while James Hannigan did his best and I think he should be featured again for the next C&C (he worked too for RA3) it would have been great for a Star Wars based game, maybe a game with big spaceships, but not for planetary warfare, that is not the track for armoured divisions rolling to engage some enemy force, this is the kind of music you would actually expect for that kind of battle (and notice how they use chant to give some additional suspense to the song):

That was more true to the spirit of C&C, armoured warfare, than C&C4 themes would ever be.

@MILINTarctrooper you got it right, that's the kind of stuff which would make great scores for a C&C game, it is true we have plenty of great bands and companies outhere which know how to do stuff right, the key is how they implement new scores into the game.

@Kyang, I though those names were fan given, like "Mechanical Mind" from Kane's Wrath.

You make a good point there. It DOES feel a little out-of-sync.
Well,if not for the gameplay,I'd like to here that kind of music in the cinematics (that's what I meant:In the cinematics,it feels like a movie because of the music). It adds suspense to the moment, but I can see why you wouldn't want it in the gameplay. The movie music should stay in the movie part of C&C.
For instance,I think the final GDI cutscene is a perfect example of C&C 4's music mixing with the cinematics.

Yeah, C&C4 OST worked somehow well with the cinematics, of course the videos themseleves let a lot to be dessired, but the music, as you say, works well to give it at least some sense of suspense, and a bit of melancholy to see the end of the saga.

No need to insult other people. I have to agree with him. Take for example Emperor Battle for Dune. While the Harkonnen had a mix of metal, rock, and industrial which was obviously very cool the Ordos had a complete techno soundtrack. It just fit their faction. So as long as it sounds good and fits why not use it? Also the first thing 90% of the people I know do is to go to the options menu, deactivate music and listen to their own while playing.

Edit: 501st post. Vader is proud.

I found those names on the iTunes store, where the Generals and Zero Hour OST albums were sold as "EA trax".

Well its kind of upsetting to listen to the music and realize how much time and effort was put into the CnC4 track, yet the game sub par and rushed. And it is true some of the tracks are a little spacey, but I would give them alot of respect for the attempt. Hannigan did very well also in the RA3 music, although it is a little on the cheesy side. But, I think the next CnC will need to out do Tiberian Sun and its game track, both the environment, gameplay, and music reflected the game in total. And maybe some efforts to study the 1990's video game glory days is in order. Faction specific music is intriguing, but also a shuffle system is in order as well. And I particularly do not want a repeat of CnC3...the music for that game is almost an exact carbon copy of the tracks in Army of Two.

I liked Tiberian Sun's music. I turned off Tiberian Dawn's music.

C&C3's music wasn't too bad if I remember correctly. Don't really know what I think of the other's.

I shall await the return of Tiberium in the name of Kane! KANE LIVES IN DEATH!

Favourite C&C: Tiberian Sun; Reason: Atmosphere, what more needs to be said?

I love the music of all C&C games. TS gotta be the best, because it really fits the game's atmosphere.

Compare the TS music with the Nod music in C&C4, you'll notice the C&C4 music isn't that peacefull

Well, true, but since when is war peaceful?
Though I do agree that the next game should have the music match the atmosphere (or vice versa). I think C&C 3's music did pretty well with that. The only problem with it was that it was a little bit too mellow.

They should have tracks like RA2 had so people can chose what they want to listen to. I missed the days of listen to Hellmarch as crush an enemy
