    Question Special Keys?

Does anyone know if there are special keys that get the soldier/tanks to move to a location? Like when you build a bunch of tanks is there a key you can use to select all heavy tanks, or rocket soldiers, or cruisers and move them all at once to a specified location...so you don't have to select each one when they are scattered to get them to move to a single danger area?

...and please don't tell me to read the how-to...I just want to play it and not read a book...LoL!

    Thanks!

You can add tanks in a group manually with shift + # and ctrl + # and later select group by pressing group number when you are in that specific location. But there is no "magic key" that will select them automatically. To jump fast between locations you may want to use bookmarks (f9-f12) (to set a bookmark press ctrl+f9 for example) or use 'h' (home key) to jump to home and press alt+# (group number) to jump to your groups location. Also you can customize these keys in redalert.ini in your redalert folder. RA1 needs quite lot technical skills to master quick tank moving.

also when you select your specific units you can set them to guard mode by hitting "G" on the keyboard and they'l intercept dangers before they take damages. You can use the "E" ket to select all units that are on that part of the map and then put them all on guard mode.Saves alot of micro-management that way.

You would also find 'Q' (waypoint) helpful when doing scouting patters and in tank fights where you can move and shoot at the same time by using the 'Q', because as when your tanks move they take less damage and also you don't have to stop tanks every time you attack. Q works like this: Hold Q-key down, attack unit or building, and then move tanks to another location, release Q-key.

I think I am wearing out my "G" key cause sometimes I hit it to have them move and guard an area[they say "affrimative"] and then just stand there til I send them again. It's vexing sometimes!

Well I found the manual for RA in the Allied Disc last night...there are a lot of Special Keys and other important information on playing RA. Is it possible for me to download a MS Paint file to this forum if I do a "ctrl/prt scrn" shot of the manual and save it to a paint file (or save it to a .jpg file)?

Also, the best key is Q. It's a secret waypoint key. You select a tank, hold q and click it to attack a tank, and then move somewhere, and it will drive by shooting. Also works for sending units on waypoints on the minimap =)
I'm about old school, that's what I told you, left click left action roll you - I'm the guy that makes those videos =)

Another key combination is the Escort Command. This works great for protecting harvesters and important units. Select a unit or group of units and hold CNTRL + ALT (when you do this the cursor will change from green to yellow) then while continuing to hold CNTRL + ALT click on the unit that you want to have escorted. After you do this, your units will automatically fallow whatever unit you told them to escort, not matter where the unit to be escorted goes, and the units performing the escort will attack any enemies that come near.

Works great for harvesters if you want them to be protected while they go who knows where on the battlefield.
