I wasnt awere of the secondary ability in Red Alert 3 but I think it is a good way to solve the problem, I never liked the insta clear of the flashbang or others, I think the building should offer real protection like in Red Alert 2 but to have the choice to bring the building down or trade one unit for one enemyy is a reasonable middle term.

I'd actually like to see another option in garrison clearing. Right now, the only two options CnC games have in terms of breaking garrisoned structures is a specialized unit that clears garrison with minimal building damage or scorched-earth policy of totally leveling the structure.

I would like to see a third option that clears the garrison but damages the building and reduces occupant capacity. You would physically damage or alter the garrisonable building with the trade off being less unit-loss risk. It would strike a happy medium between the two extreme options CnC players have now. I think this would balance the garrision options. This would allow garrison clearing with little damage to the building the riskier option, since it would need to be an infantry or robot-based clearer that goes into the building.
