Graphics: Sky background detailed / animated / high / low / blank
Performance option: Use FCM / RTS enviroment (black behind map borders / continuing landscape, low detail / high detail)
Yes, I like this idea too. However, getting rid of the Fog of War isn't really necessary-Games like DoW and WiC allow for free camera movement, but they still have it. It simply darkens the area and takes away the enemy units. They simply can't mask any terrain with black.
However, that can be solved with one thing: Making it so that, if there is a black area, then, when you move the camera to unit level, all that you see is a huge wall of black.

    Enable ground-zoom in TW

I'm afraid you're mistaken about this - I was talking about Ground Control 2, not Tiberium Wars.

However, as I mentioned before, there is indeed a way how to enable ground-zoom:

First, get OS BIG Editor. With it, open the patch9.big (If TW is patched to 1.9) in the directory \program files\electronic arts\command & conquer 3\core\1.9.

Then choose (within the .big-file) \data\ini\gamedata.ini. Search for the line ScrollPitchMultiplier. Standard value is 0.15. Change it to a value like 1.00, save and overwrite the .big file. Then you can zoom to the ground and watch the battle from first person sight.
To undo it, simply change the value back to 0.15.
Anyway, create a backup file just in the case that something goes wrong!

Be warned though, it is highly premature, therefore not used. Zoom too much and you'll see your base from underground.

Well, it is not exactly Free Camera Movement, however it comes quite close. To me it looks like the developers were considering such an option.

And BTW, thanks for evening the votes!! 2 : 2! Go, vote!

    EDIT:

I just had a look at its trailer. Really impressive, although I never played that game. And talking about FCM couldn't handle a ****load of objects^^

Thanks for pointing to that! Another good RTS game with FCM ...

$7.49 on Steam or you can have the gold edition (Game + expansion) for $9.99, very cheap!

On topic: This type of camera would give a new experience to the game, I would like to try it...

Free Camera Movement in Generals 2?

Uncanny Sense of Realism – Frostbite 2 technology allows for visceral, visually stunning conflict at an epic scale. Incredibly detailed units and environments, dynamic physics, and exhilarating visual effects bring the battle to life in ways never before seen. This is the closest thing to real war without the consequences.
It appears that Free Camera movement is featured in Generals 2.
Not completly sure yet, but it seems to be true.
At least in the trailer it was visible.

I always wanted it in C&C. I really hope that it's actually used.

As someone who played Ground Control I and II, World in Conflict and Homeworld, I like the free camera system, but I don't think it's suited for C&C.

I wonder how it will look in Generals 2.

Judging from the graphics in the trailer, it hopefully will be awesome!

Well, just wait and see. We got plenty of time until it is released...
