Agreed.

What about the money announcements?
I agree with sgfan here. Just something to spice it up, not anything that will give you a advantage (even a slight one) like saying which unit is where.

uh.. has anyone even frigging tried the spacebar key in the latest titles? its immensely useful (and as said it probably even makes things too easy at times) and takes you precisely to said event.
the idea proposed by this thread is just unecessary
I always press the spacebar! But it only took you to the first enemy unit you saw.

what else do you need from it? lol
it takes you to the general area of the event, and i felt its event update frequency was fine too, so not seeing the problem here
Yes, I use the spacebar. And yes, it is really helpful.
But it just doesn't help anything, if you hear "Base under attack", and a twentieth part of a second, just as your finger want to press "space", you hear "Construction completed: Cold Fusion Reactor". Yeah, fine. You want to press space to jump to the event, however at the time you get there another event happened and you jump to your own base because one small building or upgrade is finished.
It is everything but unnecessary, if you only hear all the time "Base under attack! Base under attack! Base under attack! Base under attack!" Ya really press "space" all the time? Forget about it! You'd never be able to do anything but to jump from one event to an other!
AI is able to see everything always, however we as human players are limited to our senses. And it is a fact that you only concentrate on what is important. Such a thing like "multi-tasking" doesn't exist. It is just impossible to concentrate on ALL things. You'd be totally overstrained.
And do you consider it to be important to jump to the next event just when your Command Center is about to be burned down by enemy tanks?! You have to concentrate on battle, not on "events". Therefore it is good to know how strong the attack is or what is attacking at all! Cause then you can put the events in an order to keep your overview.
For example, if you want to secure a large area, building defenses on all 5 entrances to it. All five defenses are suddenly under attack. Which one I should look first? And if only one of them is under attack by artillery, at the time you check all entrances, it had already destroyed your defense and a large force is entering your base. If you knew that THERE is an artillery taking out your defenses, you can take countermeasures such as helicopters. Meanwhile the other defenses take out all other attacks.

Space bar can always be improved.
My quote:
'Meh, I don't really care anymore about the new games direction, with many loads of hours(make that years actually) on Tib Sun, YR, Generals, CnC3, and RA3, plus all the mods they come with, another game with the same old formula is rather redundant IMO. '
if anyone felt spacebar was lacking in the newer titles, theres even the prompts on your radar that show you which areas are being attacked
between radar events and spacebar, i really didnt feel anything was lacking in terms of relayed information
Something I liked in Act of War was that little news feed you had running across the top of your command bar which followed up the "EVA" announcements with more detailed information. For example, if you lost any type of soldier, say a sniper, EVA would say "Infantry unit lost," while in the meantime the news feed would read "Sniper KIA." Same thing for vehicles, helicopters, planes and structures. It didn't tell you anything specific like what area of the map it was happening in, but it was pretty helpful when you were multitasking your way around the game and couldn't care to check what unit every "Unit lost" announcement was in reference to. Maybe implementing something like that would be good.
