Probably the only one with a Quadro card on this forum My main card is a Quadro 4000, but I have a GTX460 that I will swap out when I want to game, as the Quadro card is only for doing hardware rendering on paid projects.

Why do you swap it, is it for power saving purposes I guess?

Yes, power-saving for one, mainly because I didn't buy it. I'm doing some work from home for a visualization company, so they sent me the card and a HDD with a generalized image of their corporate install. Hence, if I'm doing work, I boot to that HDD which has the customized drivers for the Quadro that supports the render engine their using.

Second, even though the Quadro is $800 USD, the 460 basically out-performs it in games due to stream-lined hardware and and better drivers. I will eventually build another full-on workstation for the Quadro card, or a gaming rig. I'm not sure just yet.

How much did it take out of your wallet?

    Its $340 here.

Still getting the GTX 560 instead, $180 is much more within my budget and it still packs a punch.

Take the GTX 560 "448 core", it is essentially a 570 with minor architecture differences and less overclocking capabilities and is about 50 to 70 bucks cheaper than a regular GTX 570.

Also, I would reconsider purchasing such components for the next few weeks. After the christmans and possibly new years time is done, prizes should drop back considerably. My father bought the MSI nGTX570 Twin FrozrIII PE/OC for 289€ one or two months back, now it is at a price of 329€. That means we will inevitably experience a prize drop of at least 40€ after the whole present-season is done.

I don't have that much cash to spend on the 448 core version, but just enough for a cheaper 560.
