So it may not be too far-fetched if Dr Thrax had created some sort of chemical that "enhances" the body in a strange way-giving us mutants for the GLA.
There is quite a difference in having "random mutations that don't kill you outright" and "chemical-induced mutations enhancing the body". The later is far-fetched.

Uhm maybe some of these are originally from the never released Tiberium Incursion, but many of them are not. And they are still in the same crazy concept art style. So I myself believe, that Generals was planned to be more crazy in it's early stages. For example there are concept arts for an african faction (which is definitely not from any tiberium game ) which show weird things like Lions sitting on a tank or war-elephants or raiders with bones attached or camel-raiders or camels dragging a vehicle or grenade throwing apes and still even mutants (doesn't look like tiberium-style mutants). And if we look at ZH there are also more sci-fi style units than in CCG vanilla, maybe they will expand that in the next title (just like it was expanded in the other C&C series, which also started with more realistic units).

That's not a matter of believing (contrary to the rest of the thread), that's a matter of fact. Also a matter of fact is that they trashed almost all of that style. Even ZH's style, as odd it was compared to Gens overdone but basically realistically feeling style, didn't go that rout but pretty much the opposite one.
Keep in mind that most of what made Generals great, especially its fast and brutal gameplay, would not have been possible with units such as the land-ship or war elephants, at least not without making gameplay absolutely nonsensical for the graphical representation - for once having graphics and gameplay match is what made Generals so accessible however.

Yes I agree that they trashed that weird style at some point in it's development process for a more realistic approach, everyone can see that when playing Generals or ZH. I just wanted to say that in it's early stages Generals was planned to be a bit crazier, but noone can tell that for sure, or do you have quotes from developers? I can only assume (or believe) that from looking on to the concept arts.

And of course the ZH units are not comparable to that weird concept arts, but they are nevertheless more sci-fi than those units in Generals vanilla, although they still somehow feel realistic. And I want Generals 2 to go more into the direction of ZH and to enhance it.

I said that it was meant to be something different, something crazier in it's early stages of development, after the transformation from Tiberian Incursion. But at some point they might have redesigned the whole concept again.
I agreed with you on that, if you haven't noticed.

Why do you keep on bringing up the old, totally non-ZH designs then?

Yeah I figured that out while rereading your post and therefore edited my post when you were already responding to it .

I brought it up to show that Generals not nessessarily stands for non-creative and boring content only cos it's named Generals . It can stand for anything if the developers want to. I think there are no die-hard Generals fans who like Generals because of the lore as fans of the tiberium universe do (for example, many became desperate when EA changed the nature of Tiberium. But noone would care if EA changed the ressource structure in Generals). Most Generals fans like it because of the gameplay and not because of the lore. And therefore the developers have the freedom to adjust the background story and the overall setting of the game to bring in more creativity . Oh, and I brought it up again because you said that all of the crazy artworks were from Tiberian Incursion, which is not true in my opinion.

The existence of these concepts is pretty much a visual quite of the developers. Earlier builds of the game also had the faction Africa (or African warlords) which only later got turned into the GLA.

While Generals might not have much lore that people could cling to, its setting has a definitive atmosphere to it that many too outlandish designs, like most of the concepts you've brought up, would clash with. Personally, I felt that ZH was already very close to crossing the border with some ridiculous designs such as the Laser Crusader, the aircraft PDL, the Emperor Overlord or the Battle Bus. While Gens had a serious setting with a game'ish implementation, similar to TW where the main game featured units based on believable designs but portrayed in a stylized way, both ZH and KW based their units on the already stylized/game'ish in-game depictions and further expanded on this. For example, the LCrusader and Emperor could easily have been butchered from the models of units they were based on instead of being similar but new designs converted to the stylized portrayal. If they give us another KW Titan or Wolverine, I'll scud-particle-nuke them from orbit.

Now that's what I call a hint. If the next C&C set in a modern warfare setting (TD, Gen,?), this is probably it. I doubt EA would allow two modern day RTS in development at the same time.
