In the near future, world leaders are mere seconds from signing a global treaty and bringing an end to war as we know it when a devastating terrorist attack rips through the peace conference, killing all in attendance. In a world left with no politicians, diplomats, or activists, only the Generals remain. It’s up to you to assume their roles, command their forces, and put an end to global terrorism once and for all.

Incredibly detailed units and environments, dynamic physics, and exhilarating visual effects bring the battle to life in ways never before seen. New Ways to Dominate or Ally with Your Friends — Go beyond classic deathmatch with a selection of new multiplayer game modes, designed with both cooperative and competitive play in mind.

Thrilling CampaignCommand the war on terror in an electrifying single-player campaign. Experience the dramatic story from multiple perspectives — from heroic General to crazed terrorist — while engaging the enemy in pulse-pounding tactical combat.

    Blatant first page post.

Ugh. Buying units and maps? Disgusting. What happened to supporting these games without it being a tacky cash grab?

Edit: Let it be known that the first whine about Generals 2's development was made on this spot, two minutes after its unveiling. This post should get a plaque.

Those flying things in one of the screenshots look a bit like Orca fighters at this magnification.

Can anyone find any bigger screenshots?

And Gobias, that's not patch support, that's DLCs. Come to think about it, no C&C so far got any DLCs. They aren't evil, mind you.

DLCs in the form of missions and stuff, I don't mind. DLCs in the form of maps is something we used to get for free. DLC in the form of units and factions is the epitome of tacky.

Video games, and how they are monetized, has clearly changed. I just wish that in the process they'd keep a bit of dignity, and not take away things we used to get for free, or offer things we used to pay for, for much higher total costs (I really do think expansion packs were much better for consumers than this setup).
